The Kepler space telescope has helped us discover many potentially habitable exoplanets that may harbour life. How does it find them? How do we know these exoplanets are habitable? Could there really be life on them?

You are probably the only channel that keep it realistic. Alot of those other similar channels always jumps to conclusions making false statements.

If we can't learn to relate to other people in a civil manner, be kind, considerate and less selfish with each other here on Earth, how can we ever expect to be able to relate to other intelligent beings from other worlds!

I find the most important words are.."Life as we know it."

The first exoplanets they found were gigantic, and orbiting stars closest to ours. The longer they've looked the more they've found, smaller, further away, and multiple planets per star system. We are still just seeing the proverbial tip of the iceberg. As the search continues I think we will discover there is an almost infinite number of planets. This galaxy is too vast - there is absolutely NO WAY we are alone.

Well, this video only focuses on the Goldilocks zone planets as potential places for life. But, even in our own Solar System, moons of the outer gas giants, which are way outside the Goldilocks Zone are believed to be some of the best candidates to find life.

I was at cape Canaveral when Kepler was launched. My uncle helped engineer one of the lenses or something like that.

It is amazing how humanity is increasing its reach to deep space

I find it extraordinary that so many star systems are so perfectly aligned for us to see the shadows of their planetary masses. That people have discovered so many planets this way, given the inherent rarity of star systems with a compatible alignment, demonstrates that an immeasurable number of potential living worlds are out there. It almost strains the imagination. Almost.

There should be plenty of planets around stars with similar distances that may support life just may be too hard to see

I would love to see more videos like this one, the graphics and narration were very easy to understand and I’ve learned enough to want to learn more. Thank you for making this video. Subscribed!

Thank you for the thoughtful and comprehensible video...without any distracting, extraneous dramatic music and language that are now inserted in documentaries as if ideas themselves are not stimulating enough.

I'm so grateful for your vids! They show respect for us viewers and a love of science that is truly refreshing, since most documentaries on the subject are usually tacky and/or tedious. You, on the other hand, provide sufficient details without overwhelming the audience, and the length of the videos is adequate as well.

I’d give anything if the narrator can say “three hours later”

Hell, we haven't even found intelligent life on Earth yet!

3, 797 planets in 2, 841 star systems?!? Can someone invent a warp drive already? There's a lot of exploration to be done.

Super keen on a video about the Trappist system! Glad you're considering it! Your videos are awesome as usual. May I suggest a side video that does a cover of the main upcoming/new satellites, observatories or probes and what they'll do and focus on? Maybe also a status check on what we have out there?
