You did a really good job of avoiding the ghost flares in your shots. Makes the whole video look much more comparable to a camera without those distractions

Insane how good it looks. I still can't believe this is coming from a phone.

I just got my iPhone 15 Pro a couple days ago. And from what I saw from creators, I was impressed with the results from the Apple Log footage. I've taken notes on your grading process, and purchased your LUT. Many thanks.

Honnestly, it looks fantastic ! Even the low light looks clean, of cours super dark and moody, but clean. As a 100% amateur, I got the iPhone 15 Pro and I'm going to use it and try to push it to its limits, but man... except the lack of blurry background this LOG profile turns the iPhone into a pretty capable machine.

Cheers from France :)

5 seconds into watching this video, my wife says "What film are we watching?"
Nailed it.

I love it. It makes the video look 98% closer like a camera look. I love it.

I have been figuring out the log specs and details for Apple log. I appreciate the tip of shooting under. Thats something I typically don't like to do and seems counter intuitive to a weaker sensor but what you said makes sense. Exposing higher forces the camera to raise ISO which is very bad on this camera. I also found Apple log to have about 14 stops of DR. 8 under and 6 over. At ISO 55-400 however the video saturates or clips around 79 IRE which makes it only about 3 stops over. Shooting under by 2 stops does really help shift the shadow stops into the much needed highlight stops creating a better balance. Especially for HDR where we may want better highlights.

The odd thing is above ISO 400 the clip pod nt gradually lifts as well. Eventually getting to 100 IRE but at that point the noise is so bad I think it's a really bad way to go. Your solution to shoot under by two stops is much better.

I love how much less sharpening and processing is happening with this log profile. It's honestly so much better now. Curious: when you grade for Youtube in this pipeline, what settings are you using for the output? Rec709A or Rec709 Gamma 2.2, just curious assuming its coming out of Resolve.

As someone starting out in film after a long, long break, I would only use my iPhone 15 as a C cam if needed. Otherwise I'd rather choose to use two bodies.

Totally agree with underexposing. Very little latitude below about a stop or so without really pushing the image.
