Do you have any advice on choosing the right references and choosing the general mood of the artwork? I've been working on my personal IP for a while, but I find myself just overwhelmed as my references rarely actually help with my artwork except for dictating some shapes (for props etc). Also, would love to see a video on kind of natural indoor situation, such as caves!

Ok, now I see the difference between painting and drawing. By drawing you make the picture by straight lines using logic, by painting you work as a AI or a graphic card, starting from the mood, color, shades, light. You are trying how to draw a specific object but to pretend it already exists. That is interesting. For me it looks like magic.
