This is just one example of why I hate working on cars. If me not loving things breaking like this makes me not a "real car guy" so be it! Haha.

Ive worked on cars for 7 years and find myself hating what I do the more time goes on. I started off passionate but have definitely came to the point where I want to change careers. This is coming from someone that went to trade school and is fairly good at what I do I just now dread it and am almost daily contemplating different career possibilities.

I broke a hardened steel bolt on my stock evo 8 turbo. At the time all I was doing was replacing the exhaust manifold gasket and it was supposed to 30 minutes, but it set me back 2 months. I feel your pain

Haha, come on man. You don't hate working on cars... you just hate working with rusted parts! Living in Michigan, believe me, I can relate. On our bugeye WRX, this issue turned a 2 hour wheel bearing job into a 2 day nightmare. By the time we sold it, it was so bad that I couldn't even jack it up by the pinch welds anymore.

In contrast, I keep my blobeye STi garaged in the winter and it's completely rust-free. Doing any work on it is actually really enjoyable. It makes a big difference.

The easier way is to cut your new arch where it is supposed to slide into the back of the bumper. That is what I did on mine. Been running it for 3 years that way no issues. The adhesive and clips are more than enough to keep it attached.

been there 2hours to change a tire because i snapped a stud and coudnt find my screw out tool.
remove tire next time, can you get around things to access bolt sure but in this case you remove the wheel so you can correctly get at it from the correct angle and better see what you are doing. etc. reducing frustrating issues that cause more time loss to fix than the issue you were fixing.
spray wd40 or whatever, , wait a little go slow and if you snap a bolt just use a screw out bit.

If you hate working on cars you may not be a car guy... but you are a car enthusiast.

I have a 2017 Sti and I’m not sure if the older models have as many of the plastic clips that the new ones have and it makes everything 20x worse. I would much rather just have bolts it would be easier they brake off all the time and are extremely difficult to take out and put back in, and it makes things take way longer than it should.

the rear bumper clip on my wagon has torn around the actual housing for the clip, so now it flaps a little at highway speed as i continue to ignore it
