This is very intriguing.
The amygdala is best known for regulating two key emotions: fear and aggression. Stimulating this thing can regulate these key emotions and can either control the fight, flight, or freeze response, or completely cause a rat to go berserk.

Stimulating certain commands using a mere laser is a good feat. But it can be used, one of these days, for the destruction of our inner humanity and, let's just say, bring out the beast.

If humans have a similar neural trigger for violence this could have implications for controlling (or punishing?) criminals and all the ethical questions that raises, e.g. Is it right to alter 1 persons brain for the benefit of the rest of the community?

The problem with scientific power you've used is it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge yourselves, so you don't take the responsibility for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could, and before you knew what you had, you patented it, packaged it, slapped a laser on it, and now you want to sell it. Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should.
