Living With 2021 Mustang Mach-E. A Real World Deep Dive Into Ford’s First Dedicated EV.

Let’s get past the Mustang name controversy and address the big question- How easy is the Ford Mach-E to live with. Turns out, the Blue Oval folks pretty much nailed it. Tom Voelk spends a week in a standard range 66kW Premium AWD model. It’s the one with the shortest amount of range, 211 miles according to the EPA. How does it work in the real world? Is charging easy and quick? Can it handle family duty? All of these questions are answered, plus a look at the FordPass Charging Network and the Sync 4A interface. If you have more questions, ask in the comments.

When is Ford going to slap some stripes on that thing and call it a Shelb-E?

18 minutes is a perfect length for a detailed deep dive review, especially when it's packed full of relevant info and not boring filler....!

The more reviews I see, the better I like this car.

I’ve got one on order. After this review, and many other positive reviews, I can’t wait to take delivery!

Tom's reviews are consistently among the best written I've ever seen. They're very well written, presented conversationally, and focused on what people care about. So many people do a "walkaround" and spend almost no time on the one thing you really want to know -- What's it like to drive?

Looks like a nice car. I'm not thrilled with the center display. I keep expecting the camera to pan around behind it and show the Velcro holding it to the dash.

One of your best reviews ever! Thanks for packing in so much information about the Mach E. Seems like a really cool car. I hope Ford is able to make hundreds of thousands of them.

Like the idea of at home charging, this car would meet 98% of my driving needs.

I love the volume control add on feature the most. The one where the screen goes calm when you hold down the volume control. Thank you for sharing.

It doesn't really matter what it's called if it's good. This appears to be good. Great review as always Tom.

Very good point made near the end of this video about charging at home. Availability and speed of charging stations means a whole lot less if you always leave home with a full charge. Never thought about that.

TESLA: The name for electric cars. Ford needed that instant recognition. Mustang it is.

I like this review. However, people complain about the many menu options in the car. What they forget (as a previous Ford Car Salesman) that many of the Sync features can, and should be, controlled with your voice. I test drove a MME while I am waiting for mine and was able to voice control the radio, navigation, and climate controls with the voice button on the steering wheel without taking my hands off the wheel. Just takes some time learning the speech commands.

Great advise on the tires.
Had a spare set of wheels so right before the great Texas blizzard of 2021
I purchased a cheap set of winter tires, mounted them on the back of my Chevy standard box short bed 2w and threw 200lb of dog food in the back at the tail gate .
Never had a problem and whem it was over the local animal shelter got the dog food.

I understand why Ford named this the Mustang. It's free advertising with so many people up in arms about it, and it keeps people talking about it; seems like a pretty good strategy.
The door handles make sense all-in-all, but I would like to see how the (I guess) capacitive button works when wearing gloves. Though, you're right about Michigan people understanding cold weather.

Was just out to dinner with the wife and we saw this during a segment about the Woodward Cruise. So hear I am checking it out!!! This video has definitely peaked my interest in this vehicle. I wouldn’t NOT buy the regular E-Mach but am more interested in the GT version that will be coming out soon. Thanks for the video

Good review. It'll be my first EV and range anxiety is real but I'm looking forward to the learning curve.

Two weeks ago I ordered a Premium Mach e. After a sobering period of reflection I changed my order to a GT. Prior to my current 2020 Supra, suitably modified to produce 500 whp on e50. I drove a 2006 Mustang GT, 2009 GT500, 2013 Boss 302, and 2016 GT350. I love Mustangs and I'm sure my wife will love this first Mustang SUV.

"The screen response is excellent"....(as you swipe and the screen is lagging)

Your One Pedal driving tip is so accurate. Heck, it doesn't even have to be one pedal driving. My wife says I'm on and off the gas pedal way too much for her liking so my time in the driver's seat is usually short-lived. Great thorough review as always Tom.
