Kevin Fiege himself said that Cap is worthy to weild Mjonir in age of Ultron only... He didn't didn't lift it then because it could be a face loss for Thor

Cap's worst fear had nothing to do with war. He was afraid that he missed out on living his own life, and in turn that he would never find love.

He could always lift it because as Erskine pointed out he is pure hearted.

Captain America was a man who willingly gave up his life to save the world from Red Skull during WW2. If that doesn't make a man worthy, then I don't know what does.

you know that cap could always hold it. it's just that he didn't want to make Thor look bad and when cap had to use the hammer in end game Thor Said "I knew it"

Captain knew he was able to lift the hammer, but he stayed humble. As a student of war, it's only best to stay humble among your friends. He didn't want to let them know he could. That's why Thor said I knew it!

The Russo Bros said he was Always worthy. When It moved he realized he could do it, and didn't want to hurt Thor's feelings. Even Thor said "I Knew it!"

Cap most likely recognized the frailty in Thor and didn't want to show him up. He was truly humble, which is exactly what made him worthy!

He was worthy even before he became captain America. Abraham Erskine knew it and that's why Steve became CAPTAIN AMERICA ❤

It's literally because Captain was too nice to embarrass Thor in front of everyone

I think Cap realized he was able to move it but didn't want to send Thor into an existential crisis as he was still maturing at that time.

A friend of mine once theorized that it was because of the circumstances under which they were trying to lift it. Because it was all on a bet/good fun and such, Mjolnir just gave Cap a little budge. Later, when the universe was at stake, it came to Cap in earnest because the need was there.

Kevin Fiege himself said Captain America could lift it during age of ultron. But he didn’t want to embarrass Thor. Which makes total sense. Cap is an amazing human being

When Cap picks up the hammer in Endgame, Thor immediately says "I knew it" so clearly Cap was worthy in Age of Ultron. That look of relief when Cap didn't lift it also backs that up a bit, cause essentially Thor knew he was about to be proven wrong but then Cap put it down and he is a master tactician I can assume he noticed Thors expression lol

No, Steve could always wield it, he chose not to so he didn't take away Thor's moment. Thor even later on says "I knew it!" when he does lift up Mjonir.

My favorite take is Steve became worthy the way back before he took the serum when he jumped on that Grenade. He was, without knowing it wasn’t live, willing to sacrifice his life to protect everyone present. Not just Carter, but even the jerk that bullied him the whole time. That’s when he became worthy.

His fear wasn’t that there would be no fight, it was being alone. Everyone in his vision was from his original time (1930’s-40’s). There were people lying there with gunshot wounds and everything. He considered himself a “Man out of time” with no real place to belong, so while everyone else is dead or dies around him, he is left alone and without “the right partner”.

He became worthy in his film when he dived on the grenade as he was by far the weakest but made the biggest sacrifice

We discussed this years ago. At this point in the story Thor had started falling into his depression and Captain America knew this. He started to lift the hammer but sat it down because he knew if he did that it would be a hit to Thor's already depleating ego. This was confirmed when you hear Thor say "I knew it!" right before Captain nailed Thanos in the face with it....Welcome to the MCU there guy lol
