This bulges my mind just WOW!! Just leaves me an aw, how in the hell did these amazing people create these beautiful buildings with no machines by hand they were the "machines" just amazing!! The beauty of the entritic work is just amazing 😮 I wonder if that was an area where the important people lived too? This is a must see👏👏👏

Next time you're in Uxmal check out the ruins of Hacienda Uxmal which is about 1 K behind the Hotel Hacienda Uxmal. Historical as it's where Stephens and Catherwood based out of when they documented all the Mayan ruins in Yucatan in the 1830s. They published the book "Incidents Of Travels In Yucatan" in the early 1840s which let the world know about the Maya. Uxmal is my favorite ruin site and a yearly trip for us. We love the area and the quiet rolling hills. We lived on Isla Cozumel for 11 years.

Considering the Mayans averaged about 4'6" I'm surprised the rises on the steps are over 12" plus the steep angles. The governors mansion must have been the residence of the ruling factor of the Mayans I suppose when they were in power. As an aside when you need to go pee I never noticed any Johnnys on the spot! lol. Bill.

Merida seems unreal, why do they let people step over those historical relics?

It's a trick from the pyramids of America, clapping in front of a pyramid to see the sound it makes.
