There is a lot of free resources on youtube (Brad Traversy, web dev simplified, Kevin Powell, Programming with mosh, The Net Ninja, Dev ED, Dani Krossing, Academind etc... ) where anyone can learn and improve his skills. Or just use a learn platform such as Udemy where you can get premium bootcamp for less than 30$. This is how i start my journey and after about 2 years of watching tutorials and doing my own side projects i get into work as web developer at a company.

Sad to see there are people who continue to prey on others. This reminds me of of the early 2000s when computer programming was on the rise, and for-profit colleges made the same promises as coding boot camps except the program was in computer programming. A lot of these for-profit colleges are defunct now.

From personal experience, I had a housemate who went to boot camp for 8 months, and got a job at a major tech company as an engineer 6 months after. (This was back in 2019. The pandemic has changed the tech industry, speaking as someone who lives in the SF Bay Area. ) I don’t think the boot camp was the reason she got hired. I really think it was because of her background. The boot camp just sharpened her hard skills in coding. (She had been teaching herself code before entering boot camp.) Outside from coding skills, she went through rigorous mathematic tests and interviews with the team and hiring company. It was about 3 months of back and forth interviews before she was hired. From what I know, it’s true that it takes more than knowing how to code to land a job as a software engineer. Best of luck to anyone who’s trying to break into the industry!

@TechRally glad you are talking about this. I don't know about the others in the cohort, but I did do my research. It wasn't enough research and I am so lucky that what happened to my fellow classes mates didn't happen to me. I understood it was a newer program, but in the end it was horrible. The only good thing that came out of this is making friends, even @Martin Hernadez kinda. :)

The industry is quite saturated at this point from a junior perspective . I’m employed full time albeit the competition to find a new gig is fierce and those who don’t have experience are really struggling .

Outsourcing and mass immigration is also lowering salaries.

I came here because Dorian Develops gave you a shoutout. I came across Clever programmer in the past on my quest to pickup python. Didn't find his YouTube videos helpful and stopped watching as his emphasis is more about making shit loads of money as a developer. Sounds scammy. I never pay so called gurus money for their course when you can learn practically anything for free.
At the end of the day it's all about putting in the hours and work to learn by yourself. There's no shortcut.
Imagine people still get scammed from these 'courses' that have good reviews and testimonials. Don't believe anything they say unless it's from an independent source

Tech I.S. Is doing the same thing and when I spoke about it in the Slack they immediately deleted me from slack not just my comment but at the end of the day we still owe them $30, 000 once we start earning $40k in any job. Not just a job in the web development industry. I’m in deep regret for signing up to a boot camp.
