YouTube removed them years ago and yet the setting to turn them on or off still exists.

I found out that you can download the extension on your pc or laptop to see the annotations :)

The transparent box around Paris is a Spotlight Annotation. Rollover it with your mouse to see the text
hovering over the annotation will bring up the text "Don't you love it?" (this one was hard to see)

This feature was before its time. Youtube had some feature idea that were kinda ahead in its time. New internet guy would probably say Tiktok introduced the text word timing in the video/reel content post.. pfffttt 🤡😂.. Youtube already made it by introducing Annotation. It's a shame that YT had to removed these stuff. Damn, I rather watch a YT content with full of annotation rather than bullcrap sponsored ads in the middle of the video 😠

The question I have is how do we get people to see annotations on mobile devices and things like Apple TV. Because videos like yours, nothing comes up on my iPhone, iPad, or when I push the video to my apple tv which throws it on my big screen. Any help out there or anyone know when this feature will be turned on?

i am using a extension and i can see all the annotations

my issue, i thought might be an annotation but it isn't so i'm putting this out there in case someone might know the answer. several days ago, a small black screen started popping up at the bottom of every video i play from tube. it say's "live captioning" and starts captioning in this pop-up screen w/o my prompt or permission. all i can do is x it out, but it keeps reappearing during the entire video. most of the time i do use closed captioning by clicking on the "cc" icon, you know, the one that underlines "cc" in red when it's on. i don't know what planet this 'live closed captioning" option came from, I have looked everywhere in all my settings and can't find it, so of course i can't turn it off. i have looked in all google help, can't find an answer. reached out to the google help community, no responses. i guess they don't know either. I put youtube annotations in the search bar and of course it isn't an annotation according to the video. so, i thought while i'm here, maybe i might just happen upon some one who knows what i'm talking about and how to fix it....🤔🤨😑🙃 Thanks
