JCS Criminal Psychology started out as a compilation of interesting police interviews and in 2019 they had released their now viral trilogy on the the case of Chris Watts. Their channel led to a number of JCS Inspired channels.

The team behind JCS exploded through the true crime genre with his analysis of the police interrogation footage for Jon Koppenhaver, Michael Dunn, Michael Drejka, Stephen McDaniel, Casey and Jodi Arias.

Eventually after releasing their videos on what pretending to be crazy looks like they began to become demonetized by YouTube. Leaving us with the question as to why? Why was JCS targeted while the famous twitch streamers such as penguinz0 reactions remain as well as the scores of JCS inspired content by the likes of Explore With Us, Stranger Stories, Red Tree Crime, Matt Orchid, GBP - Criminal Behavioral Analysis, Coffee House Crime, and JCS Inspired remain relatively unscathed.

Let us find out what caused the rise and fall of Jim Cant Swim Criminal Psychology

I think what made JCS enjoyable for me was, it wasn't preachy. It stuck to the facts of the cases. Of course a convicted killer should be vilified; I don't need to hear how much the writer/narrator agrees with the verdict. That's what always attracted me. Of course he picked arguably one of, if not, the best voiceovers to narrate as well.

All I have to say is, I miss JCS. I was there when it was still Jim Can't Swim.

The reason jcs was popular, besides the voice and pacing was simply it was all information, no filler, no exaggerated for clicks editing or sound bullshit, just unfiltered good old presentation

so glad they’re finally back! genuinely the best channel on youtube when it comes to true crime in my opinion. no glorification, no disrespect towards victims, no jokes about tragedy. just extremely informative and educational in the field of psychology and criminal justice.

What always attracts me to Jim’s videos is that he, more than anyone, has the perfect balance between narration and playback of the original interrogation with subtitles. Some channels play the original video for way too long with too few narrations, some narrate way too much and don’t show enough of the clips, or don’t give us subtitles which makes it impossible to understand.

Jim just has this perfect balance that makes his train of thought so impressively easy to understand- not only the police techniques, but also in giving you such a clear view into the mind of these horrible individuals. It’s so impressive and I haven’t found any channels that have tread that line better than Jim.

They literally created a new genre. Every single channel says “jcs inspired” and people don’t even know what that means. He’s been gone almost a year with only a few videos left, and people are still milking off him. This will be one of your bigger videos for sure. He was a 1 of 1

JCS was a michelin star channel in a world of fast food trash.
Quality, depth, passion, craftsmanship. Most creators just want to make bank or are plain average copycats.

I'm not sure if he got cancelled or quit for restricting his vids. He got his videos removed and he was vocal on patreon about it. I believe he was very unfairly targeted and it caused him to quit. He wasn't inappropriate, never made fun of the victims, just showed the psychology, which he nailed. I have grief over the whole matter.

A couple of hours after watching this video, JCS uploads a new video! How freaking surreal is that!? They uploaded 7 hours ago and have already surpassed the view count of this video by 400 thousand.

JC's ability to explain the psychology behind the genre in a succinct manner is what puts their channels above everybody else's. They're clever and straight to the point. To this day there isn't a channel in my mind that has the same replay value as Jim Can't Swim. I literally go back and watch the episodes weekly...which is absolutely insane considering I don't do that with any other channel.

When you watched enough of JCS, you started to pick up the patterns and recognized the tactics used by detectives in other interrogations. I feel like we lost a beloved professor. Also, their Jussie Smollett video was great, does anyone remember that vid?

JCS was amazing because of the narrators voice. The educational approach. The immersion, feeling like he was just as much into it as we were. I enjoyed him popping into the video every so often- made me feel like I wasnt alone watching it and also helped me to not feel so scared lol.

All these other "true crime" channels just play the interrogations with no analysis. They blow sak! JCS is and always will be the best!

To me what really set JCS apart was his focus on interrogation analysis. When most true crime channels included interrogation footage it was either raw or with very surface level analysis. JCS did/does a phenomenal job of breaking down all of the subtle sub text in interrogations. Interrogations are much more interesting and entertaining when the viewer understands what both parties know, what both parties are trying to do, and the techniques being used.

Why he was so outstanding: the YouTube’s best narrator, good audio (instead of other channels you understand the audio in the interrogations), the videos were cut greatly, from storytelling view and his intros. The way he tells the story. Not straight forward, but in the most effective way and Last but not least: he lets not just play 1h of interrogations or makes comments after every movement of the interrogated subject but he did the perfect amount of commenting.

Ya I gotta say the thing I miss the most is that he interjects with useful and insightful information where most channels just sit silently or will just parrot words from the detective or person accused. Even in some cases will bring up personal or anecdotal beliefs and opinions. He truly was a titan of his field.

Come Back JCS. Nothing comes close to your script and execution. I know people are trying but you are the OG.

Pro tips:
1. know the police can and will lie to you
2. you no not have to talk to the police unless you are being detained
3. ALWAYS ask for a lawyer

I once did a FOIA request and got a partial denial letter that stated that some docs were left out because they outlined investigative police strategies and things of that nature and I instantly thought of JCS. Turns out the taxman doesn't like it when you get too smart about certain things

His voice. I want to hear HIS voice!! I remember commenting on one of his first videos- I would like to listen to him reading a book, just talking about anything. I would use it to fall asleep, relax, calm. His cadence, rhythm, tone- it was perfect! NO ONE has come even close.
