“Why am I being fired?”

“Because you decided to be honest and a good person.”

Crazy that people would rather be emotionally manipulated instead of treated with honesty and respect

Remember. A person can be a genuine, but people will always be stupid.

In the UK. The JCPenny tactic is sort of not legal as stated. The item to be marked as a saving needs to have been at the higher price for 60 or more days. But shops get round this by making the item so hard to find at the raised price, then bring it front and centre after the 60 days. Plus the retailers are in cahoots with the industries. Most shops now offer a price match guarantee, however a TV company will sell a model which is functionally the exact same to two different retailers with a slight change to the model code so there is no price match

I was in full approval when they dropped the pricing scheme ... but I didn't shop at Penny's before the new plan & I didn't afterwards. I wish there wasn't so much price manipulation everywhere.

It’s because you are under the illusion you are buying a more expensive item at a good deal

Pricing something higher than marking it down in an attempt to create a rush or sense of urgency is illegal, and they did get charged for it.

It's crazy that the US doesn't have laws against this. I remember when Bethesda was trying to drop fallout 76 they pulled this same kind of tactic in Australia. I believe they were selling the game and the game with the season pass at a lower value than what the supposed original markup was. But it turns out the original market price was totally fake and they were always intending to sell it at that "discounted" normal price.

They paid a lot of money in that lawsuit and it baffles me that more countries don't adopt this kind of policy.

When they went out of business in my area, they marked stuff up like 300% and then gave you a 75% discount. I wish I was kidding

It is easier to fool someone than convince them they have been fooled.

In my country, when something says it's on sale it means it is actually on sale...

In Australia fake "sales" are viewed as a predatory tactic and are flat out illegal here.

I used to work at JCP and if you ask for a discount they will give you one

If my experience with them is any indication, they also treat their employees like dirt too.

That pricing system isn’t legal in other countries

This crap is illegal in Australia. Just like how u have to have the tax shown on the item so you know what your paying.
