I'm a beginner, so could you please explain it a bit more for me. Why don't you use Z-level to rough out first, that's way you still have a nice flat surface to drill and the end mill roughs out most of the material, which should be faster than the drill?

That’s one thing I miss about mastercam is that opti cut. We use CamTool and it’s not an option with the package we have. I’m sure for the right price we could add it though lol

I'm curious, were you trying to cut a channel all the way through, or cut a channel with .5" holes at the bottom. Was that 1 inch cutter using a circular interpolation program, cutting over itself to form a channel or something else? 🤔

Why not just use a spot drill before the drill regardless if you made the finish z pass or not. Unless using a coolant thru insert drill then go to town but it seems to me like you wasted a whole lot of time to be honest
