What are they lodged into? Some kind of silicon stone? I just know that they're common in calcarean floor and/or metamorphic floor like shale.

How do these nodules form? I thought they always formed around something, like an ammonite or a crab, but some have nothing inside. That last one is beautiful! I've never seen one polished like that, it looks metallic.
