Make sure you start with the engine on the compression stroke of the #1 cylinder and your timing mark on top dead center.

why can't the best video on a subject be the top result? I had to watch so many other BS vids before this one. this is gold

This video was the best one to help you get your distributor stabbed in and motor running great!!! I spent hours finding the compression stroke, marking the harmonic balancer, finding 11 and 5 on the oil pump. My truck started the first time and never ran better!!!

Good stuff, after rebuilding half of this 305 and not getting spark I really wasn't looking forward to the hassle but you my friend are doing god's work 😂

Holy crap, easiest and simple correct way to install a new dizzy. Lots of people get lost on oil pump part and 11 and 5 and number two bolt on intake to line the rotor is excellent point! Thank you p, you rock!

Total success on my 1970 C10: started first time! I've never installed a distributor before and also my first time working on any Chevy product. Bravo!

I looked at all the other "showy" versions. Too many tools or vague instructions. This one is PERFECT. Very understandable and EASY instructions. Gave me the confidence to swap distributors in my '72 GMC pickup. THANK YOU!

Best tutorial video on YouTube. All my Chevy Small Blocks have started the first time with this method. I can pull a distributor, and install one in minutes.

I ground the gears off of an old distributor shaft and hook it to a drill and use it to prime the motor with oil. I also use it to line up the oil pump shaft.
Thanks for the great video.

It had been decades since I last installed a SBC distributor. I did a search for a quick refresher as I was setting up a new motor for its first start today. Your video was one of the first hits and is perfectly simple and clear. Thanks!

Man your a genius. I changed the intake manifold on my classic car and could not get the distributor to drop in at my marks. Your excellent video did the trick. Dropped it in and pointing on the number one cylinder. Thanks for the help.
