This is exactly what happened to my 1996 Honda civic Lx. I was at a stop light, it turned green, I started to take off, then my car died. I have no spark, so my mechanic friends say its the distributor....I guess I will be doing the exact same thing in this video, this weekend. Thanks for the great video...

Because I'm a professional mechanic, when I fix em, I want em to stayed fixed. I used to change igniters, then often in a few months they'd be back broken again. On an older car, best to not use pieces of electrical parts for fixes. I know, been doing it 44 years. I do what's most logical for a long term fix.

My 1999 Civic left me stranded. No spark at plug, but power to dustributer. Rather than test the coil and igniter (steps not shown in this video), I opted for a whole replacement. 3 12mm bolts and it's out. Fixed it on side if road in 15 mins. Thanks Scotty for sharing

Scotty I just used this method to replace that heater hose. It is much easier if you remove the distributor. Thanks for giving me the confidence to do this job!

@MrReveLopez the distributors go out all the time in those things. so, when it doesn't start, check for spark. If you have none, replace the dist.

try the fuel pump relay first, they are cheap. But if not that, often a worn out ignition switch, I've changed tons of those on hondas, the electrical portion of the switch

@chimzunzun Yes, and the pointy end goes on the red power wire going to the distributor. Scotty

another excellent video, Scotty!! I know the other thing that used to be a problem on older Honda's was the main relay under the dash. this was especially true of hot start problems. I always paid the dealer to change them because they were a real pain to find, and reach to replace!
