Fantastic! I am dyslexic also ADHD and autism. When I want to learn about how to do something I often come to YouTube to watch a video. I was diagnosed with all of these as an adult, I struggled throughout my childhood and adolescence, I failed everything at school except art that was where I excelled.

I’m a SPED teacher who is also a high-functioning autistic person. This is the way I talk to the families and teachers of my students all the time. This is all completely on target. 😂

We are finally moving towards a society that recognizes neurodiversity!

Thank you Teal!

I share your anger, Teal. I am so angry about how children are viewed and treated in today's society. We have so much to learn and so much to change before we can truly understand how special our children are. I would love you to do a video on the US school system and how to homeschool or unschool to best facilitate learning. Also a video on parenting. Thanks Teal!

I JUST realized I have ADHD and I’m 31 years old. For years I’ve been confused and have thought I was stupid/lazy with bipolar 2, Aspergers, hypomania, dyslexic etc. Its impacted my life in such a profound way and it’s such a relief to know I’m not “stupid”, just neurodivergent.

This made me cry. I realized when I turned 50 that I was (am) dyslexic, and as a child being abused by my mother for being dumb during my school years. I'm a visual artist since 25 years. I, as well didn't understand anything in school and was made believe that I am not good enough for society. Fortunately, I was able to work through all of that but I know a lot of people are not able to. For all dyslexic beautiful humans, stay strong because you are special!

One of the reasons why you are my most favorite spiritual leader is because you acknowledge the many flaws in society. So many spiritual teachers talk about striving for success, and that we create our own reality. As someone with ADHD and struggles with mental health, a lot of self-help experts say things that don't resonate with me like your messages do. The world needs more people like you who can raise such awareness. I feel that one problem is that experts like to think of a quick solution to fix the issue and so they either push for medication, or for success. But not too many experts push for authenticity. In many ways you have taught me about what it means to be nonresistant.

I love Finland Schools system. They do things so different from the rest of the world and students thrive so well! They actually don't have homework and they teach how you learn not based on a factory style. They also don't do the standardized test.

Holy crap! I was so worried that for the first time I was going to disagree with you because I have personal experience with this but you’ve blown me away yet again! When I was in the midst of being abused as a child I got misdiagnosed with adhd. They put me on Ritalin. I showed all the signs of a kid being abused but my mother managed to convince them that I had an attention problem. If they had known then what they know now about abuse they might have caught the signs in time, but sadly it only made things worse. Thank you so much Teal for speaking out about this. It’s so important!

I'm an adult with ADD or ADHD-I and I definitely agree that it's a result of stress and anxiety. I had a very stressful environment when I was younger due to my brother being sick and having to go to the ER constantly. My parents were always on edge. At the time, I needed to be quiet and make myself small because I wasn't the priority in that situation. My brother's life was at stake and I'd often have to sit and wait in hospitals or other therapies for long periods of time with nothing to do. That comment about making our world smaller and only focusing on what we want to focus on makes a lot of sense in those circumstances. It's a way to escape or drown out unwanted surroundings without completely dissociating from it. It's like running on autopilot for driving long distances. You don't remember every rock and tree you pass by but you are still driving while passing the time with your own thoughts. I would love an entire video on this all on it's own. I know so many people that struggle with it in this society. I've noticed that when I'm stressed or have anxiety words go over my head more often, or often times when I'm forced to be in a situation that I find boring or feels like it's taking forever my mind drifts because it's like a coping mechanism to get through that experience and make unfulfilling time pass. It's caused a lot of problems for me for even when I WANT to pay attention when I accidentally zone out or a key word will make my mind make a mind association of an experience and my mind will switch over to the thought of that experience before I realize I missed the rest of the words after that key word. I feel like this way of thinking is often misunderstood.

My son was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 9, and was on medication for 4 years... one day he told me to stop giving him the medicines as it made him feel suicidal. I went with his instincts and stopped immediately. He is doing quite fine since.... It has been over 10 years now. I do hope parents become more aware of this condition for what it truly is, and not medicate their children. I did not have anyone to advice me, but times have changed now. Thank you so much Teal, for taking this cause so passionately. We need fearless thinkers like you.... Stay blessed!
