These days 9mm +p hollow points will outperform pretty much any other handgun ammo unless it’s a magnum revolver or a .50 cal.

1: 40 cal sucks, heavier, more expensive ammo, less capacity
2: smith and Wesson is over rated
3: 9mm is far better in real world scenarios. Ammo matters, not the caliber. If your using the cheapest fmj’s or the cheapest hp’s at academy you are selling yourself short.
4: research ballistics gel testing done recently on various types of 9mm and compare what everyone says is the best. Verify what people say and tell you with visual proof in gel.

6: glocks are also extremely over rated and over hyped. It’s like the Walmart of guns now. Sure it has what you need but not really anything special anymore is it? Also like Walmart, everyone has plenty of them.
7: research the sig p365 xl. Way more concealable, way better capacity per size, better stock sights and better trigger by a mile. Also arguably more accurate, also lighter.
8: glock also is more popular with everyone because of pricing and discounts and contracts with Leo and government agencies. However your seeing more variety than ever now and many departments have long since switched from 40 to 9.
And 9: well figured I’d land on 9 since honestly it’s better than ending up at 40
