For those that may have a different version of Pro Q3 and cannot see side chain, there should be a tab on upper right with just an icon with dots on next to another tab with 'none' on it. Click on the dot tab then you will see side chain top right, click on that and then select your goal file.

I did this with a kazoo i own and a digital saxophone sound, and it was amazing how it changed the sound of the kazoo, I then added a bit of auto tune, to make the kazoo sound a bit more in key :) this is probably the cheapest way to get a very expressive saxophone sound, without having to spend a ton of money on a real saxophone.

Also in order to tackle some phase issues switching from "Zero Latency" mode to some linear phase modes can help ;)

Thanks again. I was working on a track that needed a little earlier Metallica sound for the left guitar track. Matching it then backing of the slider did the trick. Cheers!!

It almost sounds like you switched the cab IRs. Pretty cool stuff.

Could get you nameless setting, cab and overdrive settings for your tone before the fab filter sculpting took effect . I have fortin nameless suite and can’t get any sick tones like that .

Why not play in the same timbre of your reference? Play the exact same licks if you want a better match. 3:46

Is there a way to go into the negative percentile range? Something I use Logic's Match EQ for is to more easily fit lead instruments or vocals or whatever into an already fairly crowded arrangement. I route all the instruments to a bus, and then all the vocals to another bus, put the Match EQ on the instrument bus and have the VOX bus be the side chain and have it in the negative percent, as in scooping exactly where the vocals are at. I want to know if there's a way to do this with the Fab Filter EQ, if I find out I'll write back

I have a shit headphone on at the moment and the detail difference is still quite noticeable between the 2 EQs.

I'm after a few of the Metallica tones; So, I need to establish a version on my own first, to match it in the FF equalizer?

I use reaper and for some reason the top part of the plugin where you choose your reference tone isn't there.

This is an interesting approach. I've seen people match a tone with a sim without an IR loaded. That might get it even closer. This is still really awesome though. :d Fabfilter stuff is great.

Have you ever tried the matching eq from Izotope Ozone 9?

Why didn’t you play the same notes as the original riff?
The big low end boost was because the goal tone was consisting basically of chugging, and your noodling did not, so the EQ had to add low end for your noodling to sound like the goal tone.
