I don't sweep frequencies anymore because EVERY frequency sounds bad when it's boosted up like that by itself. If a resonance is loud enough that it bothers me it's usually visible on a spectrum and I use that to find it. The free melda eq let's you choose frequencies on a keyboard and I like to try taking out the out of key notes and by using the harmonics extension on each band to subtly remove then. It makes things like vocals sound more in tune without autotune. It also helps autotune find the correct notes sometimes if I put the Mequalizer in front of autotune.

Great idea - something else to try is instead of boosting and sweeping to find inharmonics, cut and sweep. I used to boost and sweep but I kept cutting lots of other frequencies unnecessarily because even harmonics can sound bad when they're overemphasised in the mix by a gained up boost. What I'm trying to say is that by boosting and sweeping, your mindset is "where is this frequency so I can exterminate it?" whereas by cutting and sweeping your mindset is "well, if I cut this band, the mix sounds less muddy, so I'll make some adjustments and keep the EQ". Just my thoughts of course, work how works best for you!

I went analyzer off for a long time and I got a lot better once I turned it on (it was off by default in logic 9).

I switched to ssl style eqs to force myself to listen instead doing what "looked" right. So i approve of this message haha

Do a cut sweep instead.. That way you can find what doesn’t need to be there while still keeping the fundamental of the sound. Everything sounds bad when boosted that much and swept.

If you’re looking for resonances, Fabfilter EQ is the only option. The logic stock EQ is trash for stuff like this.
