How nice that you get the choice! I also will never retire despite being on the road to earning my PhD in neurobio. But that is not my choice. Money is tight and will only get tighter in the future. I think most people in my generation will never retire 😅

How were you able to gain control over your working hours and life balance? I'm going into premed, but I'm afraid of having to work like a med student until my 50s. Did you match into a favorable specialty, and/or do you work at a private clinic? Seems like freelancing (for corp alternative) or creating your own clinic is the way to go if you want to control your own time
