🥒ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.

If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Their leader is a great person, my heart melted when he said Education is what they needed. Once they get an education it's ok with him if they will leave. Thinking for his community to have a better life than thinking of power. He is so selfless he's amazing! I hope one day Makoko will be a better community.

17:18 when he said '' that's OK ''.. I got goosebumps🥶.. He sounded exactly like a LEADER his father wanted him to be😭💪

"Once they get education and they are educated, none of them wants to stay here." -Taiwo

this man is better than all the politicians who just visited Makoko for their votes, he cares about his people, the future of its people, and I can see he is very well respected in the community as a leader.

I've never watched a food review show that has made me smile, laugh, cry and be humbled all in one. This is a great episode, really!

My heart goes soft when he answered “Its okay” to if the kids go out and live else where after receiving education. He’s such a good leader.

I'm from Nigeria, but I've never heard about this village Makoko. Big thanks to you and your crew for shooting this video and opening the eyes of the world to this wonderful community.

i love how humble that young man is especially when he said he was ok with the kids finding opportunity else where, that is love for his people.

When the chief-to-be said that he's okay with the children getting education and leaving the community behind, I cried a little. That's a quality leader in the midst of poverty and oppression. May Life provide you and the village prosperity and may the Universe grant you powers to be better than your oppressors.

Can't believe I'm crying watching a food show on Youtube.

I've been watching Sonny's videos since he started in yt. He really did gone a distance. His contents were no longer just for foods but also involve culture and tradition. Very very good contents. More power Sonny!

"The biggest changes I have seen so far is the kids going to school " Revolutionary sentence...🔥🔥🔥

The fact the future head of the village wants the children to go be educated and take on better lives and jobs is very touching. To have love for his home and want to keep its culture alive while also wanting change for the better for those who seek it is very unique. I hope the kids do travel and spread aspects of their culture to other areas of the world

His sensitivity towards their culture plus his easy interaction with these dignified people is impressive. I am glad he enjoyed that delicious looking lunch.

Africans will never stop smiling and dancing even on the doomsday

They make me realise materialistic things are not important to be happy

Hope they all get the support they need

Love & Namaskara from South India to all African brothers & ladies 🙏

I have to admit, I watch Sonny's videos here and there. But this one really hit me with how lucky and how we take so many things in our life for granted.

All I can say is, I feel soo humbled. I am Nigerian and I know things could be better but it's the fact that 'suffering and smiling' has become the norm. Looking at the bright side of things, it shows how resilient we are as a people, we thrive in whatever situation we find ourselves in. But still, things can be a lot better.
By the way...loved this episode!

The only eyesore in Nigeria is the corrupt government, I wish the people of the hidden floating village all the best.
Makoko forever.

I Lived in Africa for my first 20 years now I live in a developed country and I came to realize despite the hardships there, Africa is rich of life, but here we are rich of money but poor of life, paying bills and working throughout our lives is all I think now, THOSE PEOPLE ARE STRONG AND HAPPY in some way despite everything
