Why Celebrate Christmas? #theology #apologetics #christmas

Why do I celebrate Christmas? I keep hearing from viewers protesting that Christmas is not in the Bible, and nowhere are we told the date Jesus was born (but it certainly wasn’t December 25th) and that the Bible nowhere commands us to remember or celebrate Christmas or the birth of Jesus. And based on that, they ask me, “Why in the world would you want to celebrate Christmas?” It’s a fair question. And my answer is this: I guess if the birth of Christ caused the wise men to “rejoice exceedingly with great joy” (Matt. 2:10) and “fall down and worship Jesus” (Matt. 2:11), and the heavenly hosts rejoiced and praised God at His birth (Luke 2:13-14), and the shepherds glorified and praised Him (Luke 2:20), and the NT authors recorded and celebrated this world-changing event as the fulfillment of God’s promises (Matt. 1:18-25 ; Luke 2:1-21; John 1:14; Phil. 2:5-8; Gal. 4:4-5; 1 Tim. 1:15–17; Titus 3:4–7), then I think it's worth celebrating, too. Merry Christmas! Our Savior is born.

Well said. We don't need to be told to celebrate such a wonderful birth. Moreover, All days belongs to God and we can use any day to celebrate our lord and savior. Hallelujah!

Christmas is also the only time of year where everyone is nice to each other. Please don't take it away.

"...glad tidings of great joy which shall be for ALL PEOPLE!"
Why would you NOT want to celebrate?

As Christians within celebrations there are things we can do things that are inherently sinful and things that are neutral.
Neutral things all rely on personal intend and meaning being holy or sinful.

First, Jesus may have been born on (or near) December 25th, but we don't know, and it ultimately doesn't matter. What matters isn't when He was born, but why He was born, which is to redeem us.

Second, it's certainly true that the celebration of Christmas isn't commanded in Scripture, but it's still wrong to conclude from this that Christmas isn't in the Bible. Even if it never mentions an annual celebration of Jesus' birth, it describes the birth itself (and the celebrations accompanying it by both people and angels), and that alone is enough to make Christmas a biblical holiday.

It would be great one year if you “just” tell the Christmas story. Wow. However, no complaints! Your ministry is wonderful and I watch all I am able to. With an open Bible thank you for your hard work, ministry and love of the text, the Bible. God bless you RL this new year of 2025.

I don't celebrate Christmas, but if the purpose is to praise God then I'm fine with it.

So by their logic we also shouldn’t eat every day, ask our friends how their day was, go to school, get groceries at the store, or sing any hymn that isn’t one of the Psalms. Got it 👍 😂

It's funny how we do a lot of things that aren't in the Bible.

to me, its more of a "civil holiday" at this point
celebrate it, if you want to
If you don't want to celebrate Christmas... fine! then don't celebrate it!
I won't force it on you
but don't tell me what I can and can't celebrate, in the way that I want to celebrate it
do unto others as you'd have them do unto you
Enjoy your Christian liberty as God gives you free conscience
🤷‍♂️

My question is if there is no commandment in the Bible to celebrate Christ's birth, does that mean that we are OBLIGATED to keep all the commandments that ARE in the Bible?? Good luck with that. If there is an appeal to the Law, then... you gotta appeal to all of it.

Adam and Eve could not eat from the tree of life. Now Jesus is our Tree of Life. He says: Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. So the tree is not a problem as we see the true and ONLY Tree of Life. Always love your videos The Biblical Roots. Blessed Christmas.

There’s a lot of hateful people in the world, and a lot of them claim Christianity

I'm hearing HR people in here criticizing the way people celebrate Christmas, that its not God honoring etc. Ive been to so many biblical feasts with HR people and you could say the same thing about their feasts. Both are free to celebrate how they choose. The key word is celebrate. No feast is 100% worship. The double standards from HR people to non HR people is astounding. Hypocricy is one of the many reasons why we left HR, thank God.
