Zaheer never met Aang. However, some Red Lotus members likely met Aang as White Lotus members before joining Xai Bau to create the Red Lotus. In other words, Zaheer's Red Lotus teachers likely met Aang.

I always thought that he was a very skilled martial artist that idolized air nation philosophy. I bet there were people who came up with martial arts centered around the four elements even though they were not benders. 🤔

What I find interesting about Zaheer is that he brings the “bending is just martial arts” to a more open view. It’s heavily implied he’s obsessed with air bending. So it’s not far fetched to assume he practiced the forms over and over until they were second nature. And the fact that bending is more mental than anything. His writing was so subtexted and so amazing that he perfectly fits in that world. That’s like sokkas master randomly getting an element you know he’d be amazing off jump

Before he got airbending ability, as non-Bender his locked away in special prison, imagine how powerful Zaheer as non-bender when he and his friends trying kidnap Korra. And you know maybe he is leader/master of Red Lotus as non-bender. I wish there are animation backstory of Kidnapping Korra during child, Zaheer vs Sokka as non-bender will be great scene

Zaheer just learned airbending tecniques as a non bender, when Korra killed vattu and hormonic convertion started he got airbending.

Tell me you didn't watch the series without telling me. He was 100% self-taught and only went off of what is recorded from the previous Air nomads in their philosophies

When he unlocked ability to fly it was crazy but whats really impressive is his connection and mastery of the spirit world he's the only one we ever see who can use his physical body talk to people while he's in the spirit world

I don't think this happened because if you look at the Zaheer's style it is clearly cobble together and improvised, getting more refined over time. The whole point of the leaf scene is that he isn't moving like an Air Nomad.

When thst lady with no hands asked him how come he new how to sirbend so well, he said he studied the air nomad traditions and their culture and when he met with Tenzin for the first time he said hes honoured to meet a real air bender master in conclusion he never met aang
