How does ocean produce oxygen?

Yes..!! You read the right title that Ocean can produce oxygen, in fact it produces more oxygen than all the trees combined on the earth. Scientists estimate that 50-80% of the oxygen production on Earth comes from the ocean. The majority of this production is from oceanic plankton drifting plants, algae, and some bacteria that can photosynthesize.

It's almost funny how null this information is now, seeing as oxygen is produced without photosynthesis.
Probably one of the biggest scientific discoveries of our age.
Not hearing ANYTHING about it from any credible scientists, and the few that have said something have been absurly vague and unimpressed.
It's almost as if it changes our understanding of how we came to be.

does the death of corals use oxygen faster?

Not many comments here. Perhaps I'm the most ignorant of all men. The statement seems to be made in this video, that marine animals use as much O2 as the plankton and other aquatic plant like critters produce. Where then Does this 20% oxygen that we all enjoy come from? Looking for a believable explanation

Does this mean that global warming if accurate would make the oxygen more rich on earth by increasing ocean? Politics or opinions aside just wondering. If true then I wonder if that’d make bugs huge again 😮
