If this don't fix it, there's an air idle screw covered up by a small black plug. Use small drill bit to screw into it, remove to get access to the screw. Screw it in and out while running, hit that sweet spot. That's it.

Huge help! I don’t know anything about engines, and I watched other people’s videos and was thinking I’d have to tear into the carb. Your video saved me lots of time and headache! Thanks!

Rule #1 for diagnosis: start with the simple things first.

Don’t rebuild the engine when the air filter is dirty.

That works on any small gas 2-stroke engines, chainsaws, leaf blowers, edgers etc etc. The same thing can happen on your exhaust on your automobile, except it'll be carbon, or if you burn a lot of oil in your car. It will clog up your muffler. Excellent point there young man keep up the good work! The second biggest reason for motor failure, is oil on the spark plug it won't spark, take the plug out clean it with a wire brush wipe it down put it back in. Hope everyone has a nice day!

Good tip man. I do this as a hobby and I’m surprised anyone else even knew this. It was taught to me a long time ago as a kid. My grandpa never threw away anything cause it was so simple to fix. Always been a tinkerer and I’m glad others are able to know this. I don’t produce vids and never will so it’s good that you have time and the ability to get this to the masses.

Good video, bud. A lot of people don't know about that. Every time I buy a new trimmer, I take that thing off and throw it away, lol.

👏👏👏 I didn't know this spark arrestor existed. My Echo is a beast again. THANK U❤. And it only took u a little over a minute to tell us, unlike other videos who talk for 15 mins about...🥰

Damn. Good job. Videos like these have helped me on so many small things that I’d normally pay someone else to do. Can’t always accomplish it, but it’s so much better to have tried yourself when you finally call someone.

Will try this, thank you. I have one that belonged to my dad that passed away and I use it to cut my yard but it acts like this at times. Scared to take it to a shop and they ruin it.

Dang! Have one of those that’s doing the same thing. Off to the garage to see if this tip fixes the trimmer! Thank you for the tip!

I worked in a l&g shop that had a "silver certified" Stihl mechanic. He worked on a trimmer all morning, consulted partsman[another certified Stihl mechanic] replaced ign module, spark plug, could not get it running right. I asked him if he removed the muffler/spark arrestor and try it then. He did, it ran great, and he threw it in garbage can.

It’s been great having the skill and experience of fixing stuff for myself and helping others out. Over 45 years now. Small engines are a good starter. Now that I’m older I’ve gone all electric with my yard tools. Nice not having gas and oil stink.
