SD Card: A7SIII/FX3/FX30 can shoot in 4K100/120p in XAVC-S, 10 bit 4:2:2 with no issues with a V60 card. No need for proxies. You need V90 if you want to film in INTRA but there are a lot of reviews comparing S and I and the difference is microscopic like if you blow your videos by 400%.

If you want to be a videographer, you need a great computer anyway. Thats a need in the first place. It will make your life easier. I have a Mac Studio base spec and it cuts like butter with Premier, DaVinci and FCPX.

I have a client who requires me to film his projects in Profile Off. it comes out well. The key is proper exposure. SLOG is great but in my opinion, with SLOG3, you need to control your set with lights to make SLOG3 worthwhile. S-Cinetone is awesome already. Try PP Off. I was skeptical but it works actually.

Got a lot of problems with editing when I did some 4k b-roll footage for one of my documentary movies. It was a real nerve rasping to finish the video with my current computer. So probably I will need to fill faster my piggy bank for a new computer, before jumping on the camera as well.

....You are SO ON POINT about this!!! After using the A7RIV for the longest time, I rented the A1 and 'got hooked'; I ended up buying it, but did not realize my initial steep $6500 investment would end up costing me WELL over $10K!!! 😱 I TOTALLY underestimated how much Sony's high-end video codecs would choke and crush my previous desktop... then there were the multiple 2 TB Samsung NVMe's and external SSD's to keep the stress off my system... then the Atomos Ninja V+ to record straight to ProRes HQ... It never ends!! 😭😭😭

Once I got the Sony a7S3 and played with 4k60 and 4k120 with 8 and 10 bit...I knew I had to get another computer. Great video

Exactly. 1080p timeline on a decent GPU & CPU editing computer is the way to go. 1080p is faster to edit and you focus on your content. Adding the Special Effects (FX) on the video are much easier with 1080p than 4k video size.

Awesome video as I’m looking to upgrade camera. That 300m SD card prices shot up from the “normal” 200m SD cards lol I’m glad you also mentioned that the M1 Max is powerful enough to tackle this workflow as that was what I was also looking to upgrade to.

You dont need proxies. This guy is totally out of it. Any I9/I7/I5 computer can handle XAVC-I provided you have either a raid o or a SSD. He just has no idea of whzt he's saying.

Thanks so much for that!

Make sure you use Intel Quick Sync(Best in Intel 12th Gen and newer) and Nvenc( Best in Nvidia RTX cards and newer) encoders.. This will help with the 10bit & H.265 footage..

Exactly, it is staggering how quick the computer and storage costs add up when you jump a level or two in video quality... still photographers have it easy in comparison!

This is the video NOBODY else makes! I bought a $4k FX3 and smh...
4k 120fps editing pc:$2400
Cf express type a 620gb:$1200
Cf express type a card reader:$120
Sony hot she mic:$260
Not to mention all the time and headaches of desperately trying to make my current stuff work... I still need a hard drive to store footage... 30 seconds of 10 bit 4k 60fps footage is around 800mb fml almost a gb....😭 I love the camera but a simple go pro is starting to look so much more desirable 😂😂😂

Hello man! Can you upload some 4k original 60p footage to see if our computers can handle the footage?

I've been looking for A new Camera to take pictures of my reptiles and also shoot 4k video and live podcast. I have a great ideal of the options I need from all of your review videos along with others but one thing no one ever mentions. is without editing A lot the cameras never capture the snakes true colors. so could you give me advice of what camera I can purchase in the 1k 1500 range that will pick up my snakes colors the most accurate while doing video or live podcast. for example the Cannon M50 mark 2 II is a great camera but fails to capture the oranges or bright colors very well to make them look like they do to the naked eye.

If you shoot in the S-I codec editing will be smoother due to it being All-Intra. The con is bigger file sizes

@3:35 this exact card you said it doesn't work and need to be upgraded. I use it to shoot 4k 60p .10 bit at 400mbps .and it works perfectly fine . The sony fx30 film in a higher than 400mbps?

Yeah I just upgraded to the a7iv and then realized I need to buy a resolve studio license to edit 10bit, and also buy a cfexpress type a card which are insanely expensive. Also storage requirements are crazy, and I just bought a 6tb drive for archival of my b-roll I’ve used in YouTube videos. Luckily my MacBook keeps up. Glad someone is talking about these hidden costs.

The backend costs are definitely a consideration. Good advice. I hate shooting in log personally. Just extra work, but for better low light performance, I should probably start playing with it. I wonder if the dual iso is the same in all the other non-log profiles - 125 and 400?
