Wach me take this toy Gotcha gun from the 80's and turn it into a cool prop space gun.

Ted, I have been using that adhesion promoter for a couple of years on the NERF guns I repaint and it works wonders. and the same company has a clear sealer too. Both of them together helps the paint stay on the Nerf even with a lot of beating on them.

This got hammered into me a long time ago. It's polyester body fill. Other brands are available and most of them are a much better Bondo than Bondo.

You are the expert, and I'm not criticizing your process, but why didn't you paint the "frame" and the "slide" before you cemented them together? Just to avoid the masking.
