Deadly New Year's Day crash caught on camera

One person was killed in a head-on collision on New Year's Day that was captured on surveillance video in Glendale.

Yesterday i was on the road almost all day. I can recall ONE PERSON who stayed behing me and didn't try to pass me. Highway, country roads. It didnt matter. EVERYONE ELSE was driving like they were on a race track! EVERYONE! All of them im a BIG hurry for nothing. Speed and aggression are becoming a real danger on the road and more and more people are going to get into accidents unless the police start setting up speed traps now. They could make a fortune AND get people off the roads who have no business behind a wheel. Either people are on the phone scrolling or speeding like a bat out of hell, alot of the time both.

GLENDALE, CA – On Monday night, at approximately 8:24 p.m., Glendale patrol officers responded to a traffic collision on Glenoaks Blvd near Elm Street. The incident involved two vehicles, resulting in a fatality, significant injuries, and an arrest.

The initial phase of the investigation determined a black BMW lost traction while traveling westbound on Glenoaks Blvd at a high rate of speed. Subsequently, the car reversed over the center median into oncoming traffic on the eastbound lanes. The BMW collided with a silver Honda that was traveling eastbound on Glenoaks.

Tragically, the passenger in the silver Honda succumbed to their injuries almost instantaneously. The driver of the Honda sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the BMW was identified as 23-year-old Karo Margarian of Glendale. Margarian was the sole occupant of the BMW and suffered head injuries. He was also transported to a local hospital.

Following medical treatment, Margarian was released from the hospital and taken into custody for felony reckless driving. Traffic investigators are still exploring additional charges. Margarian posted bail and was released pending further legal proceedings.

A man in his 70s was killed in a suspected DUI crash in Glendale.
23-year-old driver of a black BMW was driving westbound when he lost control of the vehicle, jumped the center divider and slammed head-on into a silver Honda that was driving eastbound on Glenoaks Blvd.

Crossed median and spun around, rear end moving forward at high speed into a Honda moving at high speed. Both vehicles did remarkably well for severity of crash. Lights still on in black vehicle. Amazing it did not explode.
