If you are using well water, you better get a tds meter. Dissolved solids made my pH corrected water shoot back up to 9 within an hour. RO is the only way to use my water. Rain barrels and A/C condensate are also sources i use for garden water

Somebody finally said it. Everyone’s water source is unique to their specific location. I’ve got a well and have to shut off my Kinnetico system before RO’ing. People a mile up the road are on city water. Some run to Menards and buy the 4 gallon jugs of RO. Some fill up gallon jugs at the local Cub foods. The people a mile up the road are dealing with chlorine and the water at Cub pretty close to nails neutral PH.

I use soil and top dress and PH my RO’d well water. Mine was coming out at 6.41 up until a dry spell last summer when it dipped below 5.8. True, the soil I use buffers to 6.5 so I RO my water and just calibrated my Apera PH meter and ordered more soaking and calibration solution yesterday.

Don’t forget the Cal/Mag when using RO. The reverse osmosis strips everything out of the water and demands a good dose of that.

If my PH had not dropped and I wasn’t checking I wouldn’t have known that it changed. If we have a wet spring the PH could change again. If all else fails there is a lake at the end of the block if I wanted to haul buckets.

Meanwhile the people a little ways up the road likely are able to use it out of the tap after letting it sit due to chlorine. So there are examples of five water options in one small town.

I will always PH my water as long as I’m growing. One other thing, our outside water from the garden hose does not go through the softener. My wife plants flowers on the deck and cucumbers on a trellis and uses the water from the hose. It’s high in PPM but she’s out there cloning her flowers and watering from the hose with water that has high mineral content. Her plants look amazing all summer.

In nature, water is very RARELY often neutral.

If you use Advanced Nutrients and it’s all ph balanced! I get consistent results also, great stuff !

Also, if you are adding ph down on a regular basis, there's a chance you have heavy metal contamination

Its all in the location like you say, my old crib ph would come at 8.6 sometimes, but the new spot it's at 6.8ish. unless I use Si like you said 💪🏿 good shit

Thank you. I PH'd all summer long so I didn't have any issues.

But thank you because now I understand what happens if I don't (zinc issue)

Commenting for support:

No. 1 Hate Here.
To take out the stress of pH-ing just store your water. Let your water sit for 24hrs. Or get a small air pump and airstone.
This tip should save a lot of plants

I check, it’s awful 8.6, I found the soil I use takes care of it. I chased my tail ph water down to 6.5 to find out that’s not right for the particular mixture I use. Thanks for all the help grow strong

Hey bro. Absolutel beginner here on my 2nd run. First run disaster lol
Started 2nd and didn't PH, plants started going pale green, transplants that is.. Started pH ING the water and within 2 days the nice green has returned to all. Cudnt get autos to work for me tho. Wmrt though 14seeds. None of them got bigger than 5-8inches and then started flowering after 3 weeks. Obviously my fault, think they pre mixed auto soil I bought isn't that good for autos lol.. Its good for photos tho. I live in Ireland, I don't have access to fox farm or pro mix.. Well unless I wanna pay 150bucks for shipping lol.. Love your content and your energy Scene... 👍
Oh today I got myself some 500mg paracetamol film coated tables today. Gonna try them for spray, and picked up some silica as well, tho cudnt get a si that u use. Its just a powder form that the shop in Dublin had. Should work all the same, hopefully. My first run came in at a whooping 2.2ounces of high grade grassy harsh hay weed that I over cooked and didn't cure right.. 😂 😂 Did it hurt to smoke, ? Absolutely, did I still smoke it, hell yeah lol.. Thing was, I slept like a lamb on it. Cud still medicate from it. At least for my 2nd run I don't have much of a bar to reach 😂

I've checked my pH over the last 20 grows and it's always around 6 to 7. Now I only check when I see signs of trouble. My water is a constant 6.4., the soil fluctuates between 5.5 and 6.7. no need to constantly check, but I bought a ph meter and moisture meter just to always be safe.

With lots of beneficial microbes and a healthy Rhizosphere, I've gotten by with 8.5pH Tap water, along with Prime Water Conditioner for removing Chlorine and Chloramine to keep microbial life healthy.
Lately, I have been using some pH down though, just to keep it closer to 6-7 when watering. No need for Cal-Mag because it's mostly Calcium, Iron, and Magnesium. I'll add a little Epsom Salt/Magnesium Sulphate every once in awhile, but otherwise no problems.

Here's the Fax in organic provided your water is within a fairly acceptable range it's 💯 fine to not pH as long as you have a healthy population of fungi and bacteria microbes which are responsible for balancing pH and keeping it were it needs to be. However If you allow your soil to get bone dry you can run into problems due to many of your microbes dieing off.

So I didn’t ph with RO water. Nothing is in it. When I started using a regular filter I had to ph. I was setting at 8.9 after a day of bubbling out the nastys. In my case I saw ph adjustment in a week or two. Experiment with bag seed a few runs and fine tune your grow. It takes time.
