I Bought The Best Selling Tactical Knife (Is It Worth It?)

We need to find out the age-old question, is this Smith & Wesson M&P tactical knife worth your hard-earned money?  To find out if it's worth it, we need to know three things.  How good is the build construction? Is it sharp? Will it survive the dishwasher?
At the time of recording, this knife cost $19.10, I noticed that the price has been going all over the place, at the time of posting this video the price is now $33.11.

You should keep doing this as a mini series. I quite enjoy it.

The only $20 survival knife I trust is a Mora. You can also find a Glock knife for not much more money, but they’re only hardened to 55 HRC and don’t sharpen up very well. A Mora will get scary sharp without a lot of work on a stone or a strop loaded with compound

That guard pin though... Still shocked! It'd be great to one day see you make a rugged survival knife and then absolutely brutalise it to show how much torture it can endure!

That's why I started making knives . Store bought knifes suck. Keep up the great work . Love your videos

I expected a lot of those results. Now let's see how a $35 Glock knife does. I've heard from several real Special Forces people that they are great for the money.

So, this begs the question of whether there is a mass produced knife that is actually worth it...

Loved this, please keep it a series.
Also it be nice to see a "how it should have been made" split off series where you recreate the blade but as it should have been made

Hi it would be great to see you make a tactical survival knife 🗡️ I bet it would look amazing and be a 10/10 tool 👍👍

The tag line for this knife should be, "Its the most dangerous knife on Amazon, but not for the reasons you think!" good stuff Royers.

Part of the problem with mass-produced knives is in the mass production techniques. In the very best cases, they might get individually heat-treated in a machine cycle of some kind, but most of the time they're cycled on racks, which means that each individual unit isn't getting the attention it really needs to have a reliable temper--and that's just one problem among many.

I wish you compare one of your own handmade knives in a test against a popular factory produced knives.

I would suggest looking at some of the "box" subscription services tailored towards men, they offer a WIDE array of these "questionable" knives. Mostly in damascus or faux damascus (i never tested). But could give a good mix of options! Great series, love watching!

One thing to consider when testing tactical or survival knives however is that they aren’t meant to be the sharpest or the best at refined thing like this. They’re meant to be something you can carry and use to chop food and thin firewood in an emergency situation. Obviously there are some that are better than others but it is somewhat unfair to test every knife with the same criteria, especially when they are designed for different things.

I bought this knife and i like it. I collect kabar, cold steel etc. I can put a pipe and break those too if i want. My S&W survival knife came out of package very sharp! Same sharpness as on my kabars and cold steel. Bought mine at Cabelas

I have my OKC3S bayonet. A prototype of it was able to pierce a punching bag with aircraft aluminum and a kevlar ballistic vest around it.

I just purchased this knife, and I actually really like the quality it arrived in, but I will note that it’s a self defense knife, it comes from the military and police line so it’s made for civilian carry, so I don’t believe that it was designed to go through so much torture. Although I would love if you could review some ottoza fixed blades

I personally love Smith and Wesson Knife cuz don‘t are low price and look cool. However, they are bad quaility and bad material, but you pay what you get as budget knife. Still good for the price point

I believe Amazon may still have some carbon steel SCHF9 knives left. If not, they should have the stainless version called the "Reckon". You'll get 10 times the knife for 2 and 1/2 times the price. Buy once, cry once. Mine has batoned many small logs of Live Oak and Mesquite. Worth a look.
