If you're one of the lucky ones who can afford a super sports car, the battle at the top is rife. And while the Porsche 911 Turbo has long been the go-to car for mixing performance and luxury, since 2007, the Nissan GT-R has been gunning for top dog.
So which one's best?
Arguably the look of the Porsche 911 hasn't really changed that much since Elvis wore blue suede shoes, however, the new 991 version is really fast: 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 315km/h.
Then there's Nissan's new GT-R Premium Edition… And this claims a faster 0-100km/h time and it also promises to be more mature and more civilised than it's ever been before. It also matches the Porsche for top speed and claims to get around the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit faster than it.
So best blend of supercar performance and grand touring luxury - let's hit the road.
At $366,500, the 911 Turbo is not cheap. It makes do with 383kW of power and 660Nm of torque.
Hardly the cheapest Nissan you can buy, the GT-R starts at $172,000 and is more powerful than the Porsche with 404kW - its front-mounted twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 down around 30Nm compared with the twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat-six tucked into the back of the Porsche.
At the end of the day though, they are two very different cars. The GT-R is a bit manic, whereas the Porsche is both fast and friendly. And that's why the 911 is still, the king…
