2015 Nissan GT-R v Porsche 911 Turbo Comparison Review

If you're one of the lucky ones who can afford a super sports car, the battle at the top is rife. And while the Porsche 911 Turbo has long been the go-to car for mixing performance and luxury, since 2007, the Nissan GT-R has been gunning for top dog.

So which one's best?

Arguably the look of the Porsche 911 hasn't really changed that much since Elvis wore blue suede shoes, however, the new 991 version is really fast: 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 315km/h.

Then there's Nissan's new GT-R Premium Edition… And this claims a faster 0-100km/h time and it also promises to be more mature and more civilised than it's ever been before. It also matches the Porsche for top speed and claims to get around the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit faster than it.

So best blend of supercar performance and grand touring luxury - let's hit the road.

At $366,500, the 911 Turbo is not cheap. It makes do with 383kW of power and 660Nm of torque.

Hardly the cheapest Nissan you can buy, the GT-R starts at $172,000 and is more powerful than the Porsche with 404kW - its front-mounted twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 down around 30Nm compared with the twin-turbo 3.8-litre flat-six tucked into the back of the Porsche.

At the end of the day though, they are two very different cars. The GT-R is a bit manic, whereas the Porsche is both fast and friendly. And that's why the 911 is still, the king…

The Porsche is significantly more expensive. I would prefer to buy the GT-R and use the leftover money for a good daily driver and still have a six figure sum leftover for other good things.

With the extra money to get a turbo you could get an AMS Alpha 12 kit for daily use in the gtr so i stick with the gtr

i really like the Porsche but with the price of it you can get a gtr and upgrade its performance with the money remaining

Mr Clarkson says the GT-R is better so I'll take the Nissan and the porsche costs that much? all most 3 times the price... imagine if nissan did a 300k GT-R

I like the GTR for more tunability and the performance. I like the 911 for the sound of flat six, and manual transmission and the curvy design. Both are great cars and after test driving a 911, I wanted it more...

No drag and track race ? You really dissapointed me...I feel like i wasted my time :) We all know the porsche looks and feels more premium inside, but who buys coupe car if he wants comfort ? Coupes are for racing not for family drives and comfort...

ill get the gtr to drive on special occasions, buy a used HSV GTS E3 as my daily, a used toyota sahara to tow a used boat for fun days out on the water... and still have money spare for the petrol for all of them :D i think having all of that is more fun the the porsche...

both are fast and focusing on a 0-60 as the main factor is ridiculous. Both are much faster than most folks will ever be able to use etc. Porsche is light years ahead in the fit and finish and 50+ years of refinement. Porsche All Day Long!

what intelligent person wants a gtr these days other than for bragging rights? (aka sds).. if you had $170k there are plenty of other ways to spend it rather than on a boring, heavy car that only focuses on how quick it gets around the nurburgring..

WHY MUST THERE BE MUSIC? At every chance there is to hear the exhaust they play some random music. We watch these reviews because we are auto enthusiasts, wouldn't it stand to reason that we would rather hear the car then music? Yet every show plays music over top of exhaust. If we wanted to here random music we would go to one of the millions of videos that play music. STOP IT, STOP IT, STOP IT!

Are these guys serious? How can they say the 911 is quicker point to point and that the GTR is bad at direction change when the GTR is quicker round the nurbergring, arguably the most challenging road circuit in the world not forgetting that it is also Porsche's home turf and testing ground? Ridiculous comments from so called "experts".
