Should CHRISTIANS Celebrate CHRISTMAS?

Christmas is a message of peace on earth among men who are pleasing to God. It is Immanuel, God with us. It is God bending low to lift men up out of sin and mire of a world which has forgotten God and His will for lost men. It is God in a cradle, the Eternal in a tender baby’s flesh and form.
However, the actual day of Christmas has pagan origins. The ringing of bells was thought to drive out evil spirits. What is the balance? If Christians celebrating Christmas are pagan, so is gathering on Sunday to worship. Sunday is named after the pagan “Day of the Sun." Watch this video as I explain the reasons why I celebrate Christmas.

What I don’t understand is why everyone I know celebrates Christmas but they don’t even believe in Christ or hate all things God.

I don’t celebrate Christmas and this video makes me even more. It is definitely a pagan holiday of origin brother. It was called winter solstice. No matter how you try and spin it. It is what it is. Literally. We should celebrate Jesus EVERYDAY.

We stopped celebrating Christmas a few years ago after learning the pagan history. My youngest was totally fine with it as she LOVES Jesus. To tell truth, as soon as we decided to stop, I felt the biggest weight come off my shoulders! It was unbelievable the relief I felt. Which was weird as I LOVE to give gifts. Huge gift giver!!! I have to hold back all the time from giving early because I just want to see the happiness it brings to another. Yet, I feel much more free from not acknowledging Christmas. My family doesn’t miss out on not receiving as we purchase when we can throughout the year and give in love. Think it’s means more then and not like an obligation due to a day on the calendar. Like we are truly thinking of that person when giving. It’s a much nicer surprise.

Long ago when I was young, in France at Christmas there were films about Jesus birth at TV in special Christmas program for children . Can you imagine that ? Same for Easter. That's the way I discovered Jesus, through a film at TV.

This is a great video. Really puts the decision on us individually. Christmas in today's world has become a commercial thing. If we do choose to celebrate then we should take responsibility in making sure we put Christ first and foremost in our celebration. We have to show a distinction between how the world celebrates and how we celebrate.

Bottom line for me is Romans 14.

It discusses the idea of holiday celebrations as well as dietary restrictions I believe. Essentially, it puts the matter as a personal one between the Believer and their Lord.

“One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”

Romans 14:5

It would seem to indicate that it’s a matter of conscience. The s, if Christmas is idolatry in your eyes, avoid it. If it is a day wherein you come closer to Christ through celebrating it, then go for it. It is possible for both situations to exist for distinct individuals.

Again, bottom line: it’s between you and God. If it’s beneficial for your relationship to your Creator, then keep it. If not, then scrap it.


For myself, I always see a greater intimacy with Christ as I celebrate. But I don’t (and can’t) condemn any brother or sister who doesn’t.

I personally choose to abstain from celebrating Christmas the way the world does, with all the carols, the bells, the trees and the extravagance. But if it does open a door for me to represent the truth of the gospel, I will go for it by all means.

Stopped celebrating xmas 3 years ago. Very peaceful about that decision. Revelation 18:4  "And I heard another voice from heaven saying,  “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues". We are called to stabd apart from the cultures, ideologies and traditions of this world

Very good Pastor Vlad, I wasn't a fan of Christmas until I was saved 35 years ago, it became all about Jesus then!! And yes when you've been born again, you honor His birthday, makes no difference to me that it's not His actual birthday, it matters only that He came to this earth to be a sacrifice for al people who come to Him, He was crucified for my sin, died so I didn't have to!! Definitely worth celebrating, and I do daily, He's always with me so hallelujah He's a gift for every day🙌✝️🙏🏼📖💜
