Visited Lisbon, Porto and Sintra in April. This was by far the best European vacation I had. Now, having experienced them first hand I am reliving my experience by watching these videos.

Portugal will steal your heart! ❤❤❤Especially Porto...OMG what a beautiful place with the loveliest people. If I were looking to leave the US that's where I'd end up too. And sending my love to the Guest House Douro, the single best hotel experience in my long travelling life.

Nice video of the best of Portugal. I personally would recommend a road trip from Lisboa, Sintra, Mafra, Alcobaça, Tomar, Batalha, Coimbra, Aveiro, Porto, Braga, Guimaraes, Douro valley, Coa, Elvas, Evora, Tavira, Faro, Silves, Lagos, Sagres and back to Lisboa. About 10 days should do it. All you need is a small car, a gps, a phone card to track down cheaper hotels online and a great appetite for all the different food and drinks.

I once tasted wine from Alentejo. Portugal´s national flower is lavender, a purity symbol. The name Lusitania influenced the name of the well-known Lusitano horses.

I'm from Coimbra. Portugal can be quite surprising for such a small country, where you can travel a few miles and spot a really wide variety of vegetation. Sintra is, just like Gize in Egypt, one of the places in the world that concentrates energy, used to be a Druid's place when of the Celts. The Portuguese also have their hands in a lot of Areas and Industries all over the World, like Nasa components, known Brand of Shoes and clothing bought in Hollywood, invention of digital paper and other cool inventions besides the famous Sextant, not mentioning big accomplishments in Sports, Music, Cinema, and so on. There's a Singer/Composer of Traditional/Popular Music, that edited one of the most wanted albums of Progressive Rock in the world. The list is endless.
Aveiro is nearer to Coimbra than to Porto. I was surprised you didn't mention any place from the North, meaning the regions of "Minho" and "Tr'as-os-Montes". People should know that the climate is obviously warmer in the South and colder in the North, but the people work the other way around. In contrast to the spirit of business you find in Algarve, in places like Trancoso you will find people that won't let you hit the road without your stomach being completely full. In Porto any stranger will greet you in the street, in Lisbon not so much. But the Portuguese people, despite being not so open at first, are able to show a pretty warm hospitality, will to help out, and of course, also some discontentment with disrespectful tourists/foreigners, mostly in rural areas. Enjoy.

You advertise Portugal better than our people leaving there. They have to pay you my friend, You do a great job.

We LOVE Dave's videos. We're retiring and moving from NY in the next 3 months to Portugal. The people, food, wine, culture, scenery and relatively low prices are unbelievable. Perhaps we'll run into Dave and have a drink somewhere:)

Hey Dave, just saying hi. My husband and I are just celebrating our first year living in Porto. With us it was looking at sunset over the Douro River.

Hi Dave, I noticed you are getting some flack for your choices... but what I think they don't seem to realize that you have called this video "MY top 10 favourites". Your list is yours.
I was fortunate enough to see some pretty massive waves in Nazaré, one February. They are so big they look as though they are moving in slow motion.

You have a good sense of say that Porto is your selected city of Portugal; Lisbon is quantity but Porto is quality as said an North American tourist two years ago. I think the same and you? Prosit!🎉

Évora, or even Elvas with that insane view are also a strong recommendation from me.

Dave - you said at the start of the year that your videos will keep on coming - and their quality just increases with every video - Great JOB!!!
- Just a note - at 6:20 - that is not the Joanina library in Coimbra, that is the Long Room at Trinity College in Dublin. - IF someone with their stock footage had perhaps incorrectly labeled it.
Also - when is Part 2 of your House Video coming?
