The setting procedure explained in this video is for solid lifter camshafts only. Instead of lash, a hydraulic camshaft requires a lifter pre-load setting that can be anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 turn past the zero lash setting.

Yes sir, you’ve got it! Where it gets tricky now is tightening the Poly without changing the lash setting. That simply comes with practice! Good luck! :)

Most camshaft manufacturers have their own specific recommendation for proper lashing of hydraulic lifters, we highly suggest following their recommendations for the proper procedure. Most times these directions can be found on their websites or in the box with the camshaft.

Providing the poly locks are adjusted & tightened properly to begin with, there should be little reason to suspect they would need readjusted anytime soon especially with a stud girdle clamped down around them. Just to be safe though, check them after 250-300 miles!

Let me make sure i understand this. So basically to set lash you just make sure the valve of whatever rocker arm youre working on is completely closed (the lifter is resting on the base circle of the cam or 180degrees opposite the max lift point of the cam) then tighten the poly lock to the perscribed lash using a feeler guage to find the spacing?

I've got those same rockers on the T-bird SC. Magnums I think. Found this video looking how to adjust them. I think I have a valve staying open too long. It has hydraulic lifters so it's easy to adjust them. You just get the push rod snug and then tighten it down a quarter of a turn more. I don't know it maybe the ignition but I think its a valve staying open. I can't hear anything with the stethoscope. Going to have to go in. Such a pain to get to them though.

I've been an "EOIC" guy since before Al Gore invented the internet. Thanks for a very good video

Nice and so easy to understand even for this newbie! Thanks Summit.

Therefore, the overall performance of the cam will be unchanged but the power window will be moved up or later; however you would like to interpret that! Thanks for watching!

We are so sorry we are just getting back to you now, your comment was flagged as spam! However, a set of longer push rods are in order here. Give us a call on the tech line and we can discuss the procedure for proper measurement. 1-330-630-0240

Greater valve lash allow more top end or horse power ?
Why ?
You allow valves floating ?

As i know the more valve lash you have the less valve lift you have, so the less air come in the cylinder.

I don't understand.

Hi Tommy,
Yes, hydraulic lifters also require proper adjustment; but use a different procedure. Feel free to call us on the Summit Racing Tech line and we can walk you through it! 1-330-630-0240.

I'm having a problem when I'm adjusting my valves. I will tighten the poly-lock to where I feel a drag on the feeler gauge, so I will then tighten the set screw. Same feeling on the feeler gauge. But then I move the feeler gauge and there is no more drag. What should I do to get a more consistent setting?

Hi' I have a question about lose valve lash. Is it possible if one of valve is lose and engine oil can disappear?

Hi fourfortyroadrunner,
Thank you for watching!

At 1.08 the exhaust valve just begins to close, thus adjusting the intake. but the intake was allowed to almost fully close? When the voice said as soon as it begins to close.  at 2.12 the exhaust should have been adjusted, look how far it moved in the gap to 2.13 and more at 2.14  the valve is almost closed!    as we cannot see the lifter on the cam, which is the more accurate?

Are they adjustable on hydraulic roller lifters?

Using a Stud Girdle on a street solid roller cam how many miles should I run before I relash all the valves?

Thank you.
I understand now.

Be careful to not answer to yourself when you write comments.
It doesn't work, the comment is here, but it's not signified to me.
I nearly didn't see your other comment.

Thanks again for the infos.
