Have you ever been to the races and heard how nasty the cams sound? Comp Cams has developed the Thumpr series of cams that give you every day drivability but have that nasty race engine sound. Pick the cam that fits your application, add a set of Comp Cam hydraulic lifters and you will be the talk of the town.

Just got my 393 stroker windsor back from my engine builder. Destroyed my distributor gear in no time. He indictaed I needed a bronze gear. I discovered he used a high volume oil pump which Ive heard is a no go on sbf's. He is adament that the oil pump is not a problem...anyone have solid advice?

I will guarentee you there are more distributor gear problems with small block Chevys than Fords. There is no shimming needed on any Ford Gear. So the problem comes down to wrong gear used, Oil Pump Misalignment or wrong position of gear on distributor. The small block Windsor style oiling system is better than the Cleveland/351/400 and 429/460 by far. I've never had a misalignment problem and thus distributor oiling issues with a Ford Oil Pump. I have seen problems with aftermarket Pumps/Dist.
