In a world where there's now Obsidian, Notion, Upnote, and a hundred other alternatives available, Evernote acts like it's still 2010 and they don't have competition.

Using Evernote since 2011 and i always got what i needed, a Note taking App. I stored all my personal and professional notes. Yes sometimes it was a little slow. But we are talking about seconds. Never lost a note. So all the last changes told me that i did good not changing to other apps.

The 50 notes and 1 notebook limitation in the free plan is a firm no for me. I’ll stick with Notion and use the money for Notion AI.

Once this subscription cycle is over I’m deleting that account. The amount they charge for what you get is RIDICULOUS.

I was an Evernote user since late 2010 and a paid user from 2012 - 2018, but honestly it has been such a huge sh.. show, I require waaay more proof before even considering the switch. A new coat of paint is not enough at this point.

Still a Professional user, and was using Evernote since 2009. With all the changes, have started using Twos, which is free and reflect which I love for their AI capabilities (specially voice transcription), that I do not believe will renew my account any longer. Too sad, but I believe it has taken a very long time to get back in the game.

I always appreciate an Evernote video, always learn something. I had cancelled my plan, though I like the direction that Bending Spoons is going with the product.

I have almost 10k notes. Hope the experience does keep getting better since I am so deep in.

The thing he didn't say is - that personal now includes Create up to 100, 000 notes & 1, 000 notebooks
10 GB monthly uploads
200 MB max. note size i.e. way more space

The removal of visual contrast between the sidebar and the notes is terrible. The fact that this cannot be customized is asinine at best. It’s not an improvement.

Still evernote payed user for
- best web clipper
- integration with many apps
- best pdf support - can set to display only title or the content
- on mobile can decide what's online/offline
- dont care about AI
- It costs me less than obsidian synchronization service
Though I hate search, also it's quite slow and sometimes I'm have doubts if content is stored locally
Tried allmost all the note app. Love logseq search and backlinks and how easy I can create new tags/pages

Francesco, This is a good slant on the changes in the paid plans. Much better than how it came across in the market. I still believe that I might have stayed with Evernote rather than leaving after 12 paid years as a subscriber, if there had been a plan closer to my expected budget and still handling my use cases. Instead the plan nearly doubled and provided me features I don't utilize at all. A plan in between the new improved personal plan and the free plan could have shifted free users to paid and kept paying subscribers like me who did not want to pay nearly double the price as last year.

I think your hypothesis will pan out - Evernote goes into the daily planner/calendar space. It's peculiar that their 'tasks' feature has some functionality, but doesn't have any external APIs for external consumption. Gives me the impression that they're keeping that data internal to do more with it in the coming months.

Interesting! Personally, I've left Evernote this month after 13 years or use. I had sync issues with work, and despite the wonderful Web Clipper, found it just wasn't worth a tenner a month. That said, I'll be keeping my eye on the old fella and hope the product is still around for many years to come.

The new look is fine, but I was more impressed to see that its Performance has improved many-fold. Wow!
I've been using it (paid) since nearlythe beginning.
It worked beautifully for years. But then I've been used to their systems getting slower and clunkier with almost every "upgrade."
But to see it suddenly working so smoothly and efficiently was a pleasant surprise.
I know some seniors who use the Free version though. It's that unfortunate this might limit their usability.

I have been using Evernote since 2009, and I am waiting before leaving them. If they finally add the option to create subfolders, then I will stay, otherwise, in 2024, I will switch to Joplin.
