I have just binned and emptied evernote after 12 years- I am tired of broken software, 45% price hikes and empty promises. The elephant has turned into a mammoth and is about to become extinct

Former Evernote client. Now working with Bear. I appreciate the interview. The gentleman from Bending Spoons seemingly answered all off the questions head on. We all knew there would be changes not only to the app platform but throughout the organizational structure. They are a for-profit business, so I do not begrudge them for setting a adjusted price for their app and services. I wish Evernote and Bending Spoons well in the future and I will evaluate another change to Evernote in a year. Good luck!

I moved from evernote to notion to nimbus note and finally back to evernote.

Strangely the "keep it stupid simple" way of evernote is what made me come back

Excellent job getting this interview. Certainly eases my mind that Evernote is not going away yet.

Decided to go with craft . Absolutely insane the yearly price Evernote wants for a subscription .

Evernote still has best page capturing and table options. Ich have tons of PDFs stored which are fully searchable.
I can feel the speed bumps and hope for really great AI integration.

I've used evernote since about 2008, and have 12000 notes, and all the new bugs have destroyed my love for it. I absolutely need to migrate. It's not the price, it's the broken functionality.

The new AI search is a real game changer for me.
It works a lot better than I expected and it really changes the way I look at or search my notes now.
I was not happy about the price change, but this new AI search is helping to accept that price increase.
I tried some other note taking apps, but the simplicity of Evernote, the webclipping, the new sync and the AI search, that is still a winning combination for me.

I wish Evernote looked and worked like the automation they create for their promos. At least someone finally mentioned the UI…

Had a period where EN was slow & thought about leaving it. However now seems to work very well overall for me so happy to stay with it. Quite a cost to switching apps all the time so often think it is better to just make the most of the one you are using

This interview has given me more confidence in the product. User since 2008. The only issue I have was the price increase when the product is STILL broken in many regards. It would be more justified once the issues were resolved.

"changed their pricing" - "CHANGED"?? - They actually EXPLODED the prices. Why do you not just say it as it is? I guess I don't even need to watch the video, if you start with such a downplaying the facts.

Do you make your videos for Bending Spoons or for your viewers?

Went to Notion and Apple Notes but Evernote works well for me. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Thanks for setting up this interview. Something that would be great next time is to have follow-up questions. I wish there was some pushback on some of the things he said.

I appreciate how transparent he was with what they are changing with their production machines and all the architectural techniques that they are starting to use. These changes would def help from a release engineering point of view. Good, hopefully they can rise from the ashes.

This did nothing to excite me for the future of Evernote. I’ve learned to wrangle my mess in Notion and really made it work for me now.

He said exactly what I already knew from their recent press release.

Evernote ruined themselves by focusing too much on business/team features and let their individual users fall by the wayside.

Then they crashed and burned cuz their business/team features were horrible. (This is my assumption)

I respect that they wanna make the app stable, but you gotta excite us for the future.

Evernote began by blowing everyone away by the beautiful and easy interface. They need to blow us away again. Not by becoming another Notion, but by doing something completely novel yet still simple and familiar.

I remember you mentioned this about the future of note taking in one of your past videos.

I believe they need to utilize AI in a way no one else is doing. They need to make note taking so incredibly enjoyable and useful.

But based on this thirty minute video, I don’t think much will change. And I also unfortunately think they’ll go out of business again.

Thanks for that interview. I like Evernote so I wish the best for the team.

This guy is unbelievable. His excuse for raising prices was to charge for last seven years of features at Evernote. You have to be kidding me? Evernote took a good, working app, and replaced it with a buggy mess, with still more than half the original features missing, and they cut how many devices you can use in free mode and other limitations, to force you to pay for their waste of money and general hatred of loyal user base. Now we get this piece of work, raising prices again, with zero value offered in return, not even things that worked sever years ago, are working. Utter disaster. It was not so damn hard to migrate thousands of notes from evernote, I would have abandoned this titanic long ago. And judging by the complete clulessness of the new guy, once again, Evernote will go in wrong direction at higher price, until it finally completely sinks. People were ignored for years on forums and bugs were so bad you dared not installing the app, for fear of losing data or being unable to work. And its been like this for last at least five years. Basic functionality of the old app is still missing. And he want to raise prices by how much? Get lost, dude.

I have seen several of these interviews. I’m very impressed and decided to go back on EN. Personal subscription. It is worth it to me. I feel like EN is in good hands. Over the last week I have been using EN and migrating data back in. To BS credit not one single issue. 👏
