Without a shadow of doubt, one of the most polarizing figures in cycling history. His more maniacal tendencies are deplorable but to overlook his commitment and the attention he brought to cycling is to to try erase an important part of cycling history. Amidst it all he made Livestrong's fight against cancer popular, he brought attention to the sport with his underdog story and put more bums in cycling seats than we care to acknowledge(Trek owes him more than they can acknowledge). There is no denying he existed in one of the most controversial ages in cycling but his natural ability, focused & committed training regime and love for cycling need to be acknowledged. Whether good or bad, it's highly unlikely cycling will ever exprience such a story again for a while

Doping aside, he was a savage competitor, he still put in so much work

All riders were obviously equally “prepared” … and I mean ALL pro TDF riders.
Just as riders are all prepared in today’s pro Peloton’s.
And top pro marathoners, sprinters, triathletes, football players, etc.
Let’s not be naive.

Amazes me the amount of people that don't mind the use of drugs to get better at something. They all admire his desire to win and those who don't win as much even though they have the same drive staying clean are easily ignore.

The dude was a villain to me even back then (I was six when Ullrichs fall in 2003 broke my heart)

As a life long cyclist, the save through the field is still one of the wildest sports moments

It's not true that "they all doped". Christophe Basson, who refused to, was directly threatened by Lance for not following orders. It's not so much about Lance and his personal decision to dope, it about him chastising those around him for his own greed and glory. He was never a team player.

Yeah, I'm not a fan him but not because of the doping. I just never liked the kind of person he was. Each to their own. There's no doubt he was a highly successful cyclist.

I enjoy his Podcast. At heart he sometimes is a good human. He really saved Jan Ulrichs life

He was the kingpin of bad role models and if you take a deeper look, he is not the worst doping sports star in the history of the world because he doped, he is the worst because of the way he behaved not to get discovered.

Even though kids see him like this, they should still see the stuff he did that took skill and not dope like when he went into the grass

Jordan was hard on his teammates and wasn't well liked either. Very similar personalities with very exceptional results. Doping had nothing to do with the motivation and drive they both had.
