Bentley is among the most luxurious and best-performance cars in the world, hand-crafted by some of the finest materials available for the ultra-rich. But underneath all that beauty lays a tragic history behind.
The man who founded Bentley rose his company to top glory during the 1920s, building some of the fastest, durable and most lucrative cars of his time, and even winning five Le Mans races in the company’s first 11 years of existence. In its peak, he and the Bentley Boys would often break international headlines, legendary for being extraordinary racers, playboys and adventurers.
But a series of events would cause the company to come crashing down, and Bentley’s founder himself, would instead be discarded and forced to work for his greatest arch rivalry at the time… Rolls Royce.

This is the story of a man who created one of the most fascinating car companies in the world… only to lose it all.

I knew rolls took over Bentley but had no idea what it did to them! Quite sad for the inventor. Growing up in England in the 70s the idea was a Bentley was for people who had money but couldn’t afford a rolls.

My late father had a 1964 Bentley "S3", which was in fact a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud lll but with a different radiator grill. Nevertheless it was an incredibly civilised car to drive. I for one am delighted to see that after the controversial acquisition of Rolls Royce and Bentley Motors by the Volkswagen group from Germany, and the subsequent sale for a "bargain price" of Rolls Royce to B.M.W., Volkswagen kept the Bentley Marque. They have wisely decided to distance themselves from the one time "sister" company who, had always intentionally overshadowed them and return to Bentley's sporting roots. Now the marque rightfully has regained it's place as leaders amongst the automotive elite...!!

For some reason as a kid growing up, i would secretly like Bentley more then rolls Royce, In my eyes Royce makes absolutely clapped cars. Its like a fancy box on wheels

Even today, one can see the Rolls Royce never built a sports car as Bentley have. Yes, some will say the "Dawn or Wrath" but they are no where near the Continental GT. Bentley have always been the inervaters even when with RR. Just look at the Bentayga Bentley introduced, only for RR to bring out the Cullinan which is no a patch compared to the Bentayga.

It’s a great story. Just sad to see all the British brands have horrible reliability nowadays and lose value so quickly. From jaguar, Land Rover and Bentley to rolls Royce. While I love the jaguar v8 cause there is nothing like driving a v8 jag. The reliability rating is always the lowest.
