The role of a wine distributor has changed quite a lot in the last 5 or 6 years. It is important for winery and distillery owners to get up to speed on what they can (and cannot) expect from their wine and spirits distributors. There is a common but very outdated belief that wine distributors can sell wine for you. They simply cannot as they are too overwhelmed by all the brands in their portfolio. Today's wine distributor (a.k.a. wine "wholesaler") is simply not capable of doing what winery owners think they can do. The burden of building new distribution now falls to the winery (or distillery) and NOT to the distributor. This video will explain what you CAN expect from your wine and spirits distributors.
