Yes he's a returning National Champ, shouldn't be losing those matches, but its still very early in the season, if I had to name just one thing that Cael does great with his program is fixing their mistakes and not letting it happen again.

For whatever reason, Dean has been off his game this year. I suspect he had some sort of injury or physical problem during the summer. He wrestled in that pre-season tournament when the other Penn State guys did not. Dean also lost to the Rider guy too a couple of weeks back. Maybe Dean is just getting back in wrestling shape. Just a guess.

Dean is trash early season but always shows up for the big dance

The only complaint I would have is that the ref was very quick to call Dean for stalling in the first period and award Beard a point. Then Beard is running away in the last 15 seconds and no stall point awarded. That changes the mentality of the match.

I hated to see Beard leave PSU...Hated it. Deen is too damn defensive. Was hoping Deen would leave his shoes on the mat after last years NCAA win.

Dean got seeded 9th at nattys in Tulsa 2023 and got dominated on the first day he is nothing but defensive his easy natty last year against average Warner from Iowa 3-2 was the most boring match at the tournament
