He has a point actually. In the japanese cut of the original 1992 sailor moon, sailor Neptune and sailor Uranus are lesbians, but in both the ADV and 4kids dub, they are cousins. In the original manga they are also lesbians.

Good question, wrong audience. Sailor Moon was definitely a fantasy cartoon for adults, with adult jokes and relationships, including major hints at some homosexuality. I think Mr. Shapiro would be very much surprised at how many in the woke/blue hair club have been influenced by manga and anime, more so the soft and hard core adult content. It's tradgic.

Mangakas, i.e. Artists of the east (specifically Japan) don't aim to promote ideologies in their stories like the west does. They simply write whatever the f they want. Anything their minds come up with. This has both good sides and bad sides to it. The good side is that Japanese storytelling now outclasses Western stories at the moment because there are no limits to their imagination (eg Death Note, FMA, AOT, Frieren, JJK etc). The bad side is that some of their stories have immense debauchery inside it (eg most Isekais, any story with a sentence as a name is a red flag).
