I don't understand how you're not allowed to smoke, drink, vote, drive, join the military or get married until you reach a certain age because before that age you're not considered competent or mature enough to do those things but a pre-pubescent child is judged educated and competent enough to make permanent, life-changing decisions about their sexuality and physical appearance.

Actually I agree with the guy asking the question. Children CANNOT GIVE INFORMED CONSENT, like FGM. I f a child wants to be circumsized, make it at the age of 16. their choice, not the choice of the parent. And so it follows with total removal of genitalia. NOT the parents choice esp when their ideology of child sacrifice subsumes the rights of chilren.

Even if you think Ben is wrong about circumcision (as I do) that doesn't make him wrong about gender transitioning for minors; in fact it makes him more right about it because it is clearly much more damaging.

The circumcision argument is actually valid. It is mutilation of an infant for no scientifically, or morally valid reason. I am, and my son is, but I do realize that it is exactly that. And I regret doing it to my son. Women who have had their clitoris removed can also multiply, but we are somehow enraged by it. A double standard.

I'm circumcised. Not for religious reasons but because when I was a child it was medically necessary to do so. It is NEVER medically necessary to permanently alter childrens bodies because of a "belief" that they were born the wrong sex.
