It is high time for doctors to recognize and acknowledge that one of the most ubiquitous and complicated triggers for many people with paroxysmal Afib is the disruption of the vagus nervous system caused by trapped gas in the chest, which may stem from constipation, indigestion or other more persistent sources such as celiac disease and reactions to gas-producing foods and beverages. Treating the source of my Afib, i.e., bloating and stomach gas, is a daily challenge, but it has helped reduce the frequency of afib events significantly. I also have had a few incidents which were triggered by sleep apnea and have changed my sleep position and lost 30 pounds.

Why are doctors not ready to listen to their patients, who frequently report a clear connection they experience between the buildup of trapped gas and Afib? There is already seemingly reputable research which documents that connection.
Why have I had to figure out treatments for myself instead of being referred to a gastroenterologist for help with the main trigger for my afib? It turns out that I have celiac disease and must avoid gluten, and also can get Afib from gas-producing vegetables and fruits, and any alcohol intake. (no afib for 6 months now!)

Hot flashes, sweating, nausea and vomiting every 45 min for 12 hours or more at least once a month. You might think you have food poisoning. I suffered for 6 months before atrial fibrillation put me in the hospital for 4 days. I had low potassium.

I have PAfib with no obvious cause. I'm otherwise fit and healthy with my ECG showing sinus rhythm with isolated ectopics. I'm very scared. My resting heart rate is between 60-70 bpm. Beta blockers just slow me right down and make me feel worse. Would an ablation be an option for me?
