This perfectly illustrates the purpose of religion. The purpose is to control the slaves and ensure they spend every minute working in service to the state (those in power). All you have to do is sprinkle in a little hope via faith that there’s a reward at the end. Meanwhile, those in power actually get to live. I’m not saying we should all engage in the destructive things like getting wasted and hiring prostitutes but lounging around doing nothing is doing something. It has value. And being lazy isn’t really a problem until it affects others.
