Currently in the UK, we throw away around 9.5 million tonnes of food every year. This puts pressure on the environment by creating excess need for food as well as managing the need to dispose of food waste without where possible diverting it to landfill sites. Action can be taken to reduce food waste at production, supply and consumption stage and also by recycling the waste that is leftover.

Topics:
- The circular economy approach to managing food waste
- An introduction to the Food Waste Anaerobic Digestion process, how it works and what products it produces
- How the sector contributes to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and
- What the future may hold
