As an American I have seeing lately that Canada is really trying to distance itself from the United States and build its relationship more with Europe. This poses a really interesting question of could Canada possibly join the EU? Today I want to find out more about this. Canadian here. I don't think we would become part of the EU but I think we should strengthen our relationships with the EU and other countries away from the USA.

As a Dutchman, I'd be delighted to welcome Canada in the EU. But if Canada doesn't want to join us, then we will respect that of course. Canada's sovereignity is paramount. But I hope that the EU and Canada can strengthen our bonds on every possible level: trade, culture, and friendship.

Canada joined WW2 only eight days after the invasion of Poland. The United States didn't join until 2 years later after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
There is a very strong bond between Canada and Europe, my Grandparents fought in the war and immigrated to Canada after to start a family, there are a lot of stories just like mine. We love you Europe!

Canadian here. Tyler I so appreciate your sense of fairness and ability and willingness to see other points of view. What I have come to realize is that Americans really, really underestimate the sense of betrayal and anger Canadians as a whole hold against the US government. It is deep and fierce and is felt by 80%+ of Canadians from coast to coast to coast across political party lines, demographics and backgrounds. It is very real and I believe will last a long time into the future.

Canada shares Hans Island with Denmark and Newfoundland is only 15 miles from St. Pierre & Miquelon (a colony of France). Canadians have a far more European attitude than Americans do. This Canadian would love for Canada to join the EU.
