We have a land border with Denmark. It’s small, on a little arctic island but it exists.

If Australia can be part of Eurovision I don't see why Canada can't be part of the EU.

Canada is actually very close to Europe... it borders both France(Saint Pierre and Miquelon) and Denmark(Greenland).

I’m Polish, and I think that in today’s global world, where enormous powers are at play, we should be as united as possible. Canada is very much like Europe from a global point of view. With great adversaries like China today, we must stay united, because if we don’t, there is no hope for us

We Europeans love Canada and the Canadian people, and we need to stick together in these difficult times. They have had our backs through two world wars, and we will honor our agreements if the US invades them.

If they want to formally join the EU, we'd love to have them!

As an Aussie, I can only hope Australia also grows closer ties with Europe and Canada in this period of U.S aggression.
We may be from the other side of the planet, but we love you all.

Finland and Sweden joined NATO really quick when it became necessary even though it wasn't a realistic idea just before.

The difference is that in EU you'd be considered a sovereign country named Canada, with its own culture, language and currency (you can adopt Euro if you want) also your people could travel freely across the borders in Europe. In US you'd be the 51th state, the annexed and exploited one, your identity would be dead, as well as you currency and dignity, after you bowed to Trump threats.

As a canadian, I feel way more attached to Europe than I do america. Trump crossed the line with this annexation talk.

Yesterday I met four Canadians on the street on their first european holiday. I saw their national symbol on their jackets and welcomed them in french and english. I thanked them for coming and they invited me to join them for coffee. But it was close to lunchtime. So, instead, I asked them if they wanted to join me for lunch as my guests. I took them home to share lunch with me and my partner and our dogs. I opened a special wine and we had a great lunch and wide-ranging discussion. They seemed surprised by the almost family-level welcome and reaction. But we explained how close we feel to our Canadian cousins, who are well known for their courtesy, educated manners and decency. We see them as like us, not like americans. They share our strong values for health and social services for all, based on need, not on corporate profits. They too pay high taxes, like here, but enjoy good public services and infrastructures, as we do.
WE cannot wait to see Canada and we in Europe getting into strong permanent trade, cultural, security and social partnerships. We need their oil and gas and much much more. But most of all, we want them to know we are firmly with them in the face of america's appalling behaviour and threats to their security and national pride. Shame on america. We all want Canadians to join our common market and we want them as joint members of our new security defence and military development plans, where we will build our own advanced military hardware, promoting our own jobs, domestically within the new expanded Europe, now including Canada, no longer linked to america and it's racist, colonialistic aggressive and genocidal instincts. Hello Canadian brothers and sisters. We will be so much better with closer ties to you, not to america, ever !!!

Imagine the EU, Iceland, Greenland and Canada joining. One big ecnomic and defense entity. Then China, the US and Russia wouldn't be that big in comparison anymore. It would be a giant power that could preserve peace and free trading. And everyone can still keep their identity and sovereignty. Working together as friends, not by force.

About the "stretch" of being European. Consider Greek culture, Portugese culture, French culture and Nordic cultures. Are they the same? Are they similar? Actually the motto of Europe is "United in diversity". You had too much of an US view on that.

Before the 1960s the uk and Europe was Canada's largest trade partner.
We should go back to that.

Canada's new Prime Minister Mark Carney said recently that Canada is the most European Country outside of Europe.

As a Canadian, the first reaction I had after our southern neighbors started calling us the 51st state was "We should join the EU". The more the trade war continues, the more I feel like we really should. Imagine the value of having the Euro in Canada. This would be an insane world forces power shift.

As an European, It would be a great addition to our politics and ideals to have Canada join. It is more european than it is american.

Your different map projection showing how close we are geographically to Europe did weight in my mind. I'm very receptive to more discussion on joining. I would very much like to bring my 2nd language, French, to a conversational level.
