All pseudo social science babble. Nationalism is simply tribal bias.
The world evolved into separate territories (these days called 'nations') separated by borders, because of human, tribal instinct - not because of any political ideology or social construct. In other words a nation is a modern euphemism for a tribal territory. Being tribal and territorial is innate in humans, as it is in many animal species, such as our primate cousins.
Tribal bias is as natural as family bias. Tribal territories simply evolved into 'nations'.
Nationslism isn't something negative. It isn't saying your nation is better than others (even though, quite obviously that is often the case). It is simply the political ideology of patriotism - putting your people, or your tribe first.
Nationalism opposes globalism, and Marxism - which both reject the concept of ownwership of territory, and both preach open borders, multiculturalism and sharing. Nationallism is about the right for all territorial tribes to be bias towards there own, and to have a homeland which is exclusively theirs, which they will defend. It rejects the sharing of territory.
